How should it put a 88v3 in service mode, without the verified IPL on a MMS?
Just a battery cant service mode a 88v3...

The battery puts it into "service mode" (PSP automatically turns on with a blank screen), but nothing can be done (running any form of code) without a compatible MMS , if I remember correctly.

Normal pandora does the same. It puts the psp into service mode, but without verified ipl you cant do anything.

a PSP is in service mode when it's forced to read the IPL from memory stick instead of the NAND, a simple pandora is needed for 2000v3 afaik. but i don't know/think that anyone has the 3000 MMS needed for unbricking...

Not exactly "in service mode". It "boots in service mode" but since there's no compatible IPL for the new Pre-IPL, it does not "enter service mode".

I hate this kind of threads - they only give to people false hope. I bricked my psp by turning off the psp while downloading patapon 3 demo for Ps store (the psp was frozen so I had to remove the battery). Since then I've been lurking in some forums, hoping that someone will figure something out.
