My Partial Review of the New 3DS XL

Post by Smoker1 » Tue Jan 13, 2015 9:11 pm

I got my new N3DS XL Yesterday from Aus, that came with FW9.0.0-20E . So far, there are some dang good improvements. As the Title says, Partial Review as not had a chance to test out the C Nub Button (Which is in the Review).
Well it does have some good and some really bad points to it. Lets go with the bad then get impressed.

The Bad:
Wireless comes on whether you want it to or not, say if you are wanting to listen to Music for some dang reason.
The Battery/MicroSD Cover is a ***** to take off after you undo the 2 Screws. Have to use a Flathead to pop it loose.
Not really sure how the C-Nub is supposed to work since it feels like a regular button on there. No movement at all. Guess I will figure it out later.
Z L/R Buttons are just a bit to get at. Tried testing myself on them, and when trying to use them, it is a bit of a pain to use the Main Stick and ABXY Buttons right.
Power Button could have been placed better.

Now time for....
The Good:
3D!!!!!!! dang good job with the Infrared Sensor. Turn 3D on, a barely visible light comes on next to the Camera that is facing you and it tracks your Eyes/Face. You can move the System towards the Right or Left and the 3D Image does not screw up on you making you start getting Headaches.
Better placement of the Start and Select Buttons.......but where the Game Cart goes in now, might be a pain when trying to play something like the Card Games.
Main stick feels a bit Smoother. But when I tested this Game as shown, still prefered using the Dir Buttons since I still could not get the correct Movement performed.
Much better placement of the Vol Slider. No more playing a Game and all of a sudden, in the heat of using the Joystick, you inadvertently move the Volume either down or up.
Also seems like it is slightly Wider. Compared the N3DS XL to the 3DS XL and it was just slightly bigger. But then again, they did improve upon the GPU and CPU. Memory could of went up a bit though. Guess we will see when more Emulators are made for it later on down the road.

Gateway is planning on releasing another Update soon that will be compatible with the N3DS, so I will get back to this when I have more test done (More to the line of the C Nub and the Z L/R Buttons)

Nice Interview. I was thinking of getting a N3DS when it comes out for the 3DS. I heard from a lot of users that the 3D is bizarre so I'm sure it won't disappoint.

Well with a regular 3DS, you have to keep it steady to keep the 3D images in focus. With the N3DS, you dont have to worry about that.
