Gateway downgrade question

Does anyone know whether the downgrade function could be used to downgrade a 3DS model which came shipped with system version 8.2? I don't know if they 3DS would have a similar limitation kind of like the PS3 where it couldn't be downgraded to a system version lower than it was shipped with, (how the 3000 and 4000 series cannot be jailbroken).

so far people reported downgrading special edition 3DS versions which came higher than 4.5. you should be fine i guess. though if you have doubts, wait for a few days more. I myself succesfully downgraded my 9.2 XL, though it came with lower firmware than 4.5.

Ok cool, must have overlooked those posts. Appreciate it, I'll keep an eye on how things develop for a little bit and decide whether to try it at a later time.
