Emulators that run on the Gateway 3DS Blue Card (DS Mode)

Post by Smoker1 » Sun Nov 09, 2014 1:43 am

I have not seen this anywhere on here, so hopefully I can Post about it. There are some Emulators for the DS that will run on the 3DS on the Gateway Blue/DS Card. Some since they are strictly for DSTwo Cards, will not work with GW. Also the Emulators will not need any Patching either.

NeoDS (NeoGeo Arcade Emulator):
This Emulator works perfectly. This Emulator requires you to Convert your NeoGeo Roms into .neo Files which you can convert using UniBios (can use whichever Version you want as 3.1 works perfectly and you can adjust the Soft Dip Settings), you just have to rename it to unibios.rom. It comes with a Readme File which describes what to do, but I recommend the CMD way of doing it since the normal way does not work correctly for some reason. Also the Games are zoomed in on a little bit, but on the Bottom Screen, it does have a Choice of how you want it Displayed, either Normal or Scaled.
This Emu does require MAME 0.118 Romset which is VERY hard to find. However you can use a older Romset and just add whatever files it requires from a newer Romset(might have to rename some of the Files). There is a place where you can find the already Converted Games, but those are using regular Bios. Google it.

PicodriveDS (Sega Gen/Mega):
This Emulator Works perfectly except for the fact that there is no Audio. Must use Roms with the Extension bin or some other extension which I forgot. So you will need to find those Roms which are the older types, not how they are now which is MD or Gen extensions.
JEnesisDS is another one which has Audio but has a set back of it's own: the Video is zoomed in on so you do not get the whole picture. Same File Extension as I mentioned before.

Lameboy (GB/GBC): Works perfectly

SNEmulDS (SNES): Works perfectly once you get the Graphics correct for which ever Game. For example, Donkey Kong Country needs some tinkering with the Graphics to look right. Once it is done, you are good to go. SMW runs perfectly without having to tinker with the Graphics.

Like I said, there are some Emulators that just will not run. Like MAME4ALLDS requires the DSTWO Card in order to run.
There are also Homebrew Games that work with little to no problems. Example, DSDoom works perfectly. Except for the fact I have no idea on how to get the Keyboard to come up while In-Game. It does come up for when you want to save a Game though. MinesweeperDS works, and trying to figure out how to get Wolf3D4DS to work.

So basically, until there are Homebrew/Emulators for the 3DS, just have to use the DS ones till there is more progress made.

Thanks. I might test this, was looking for a topic like this earlier.

I am really considering getting a Supercard DSTWO though, for both emulation and DS games even when I have that Gateway blue card. Simply because I find the interface and stability of the card very bad. I have played DS games and after saving and closing the game (back to 3DS menu) the card has gone corrupt and I need to reformat it with everything lost. I googled and saw that I'm not the only one who has encountered that. It's as people have said before, the Blue card is a really cheap R4 clone only to flash the 3DS for Gateway mode.

Well for right now, I am perfectly fine with the NeoDS for my Arcade Game needs. Can even run the Nebuwak Rom Hacks, just need to rename some of the Bin and Rom Files depending on which Game I want on there.
Just hope soon, they will be able to bring Emulators and Homebrew on the actual 3DS Mode with MAME and Doom being hopefully the first ones. Not to mention, could you imagine Doom in 3D? Why hasn't Nintendo thought of that one???? LOL. Would be AWESOME!!!!!!

Hi,

Regarding NeoDS, do you know what could be happening here and what I could do to have this working on a blue Gateway card in my 3DS?

[*]I downloaded the NeoDS emulator and put all the folders plus the NeoDS.nds file on the root folder of the microsd.
[*]I put the converted games.neo on the root of the microSD as well
[*]I launched the software for the blue card and from there I navigate to the NeoDS.nds file on the folders structure and click on it.
[*]What happens at this point is that I just get a WHITE SCREEN, nothing else happens... :S

Any idea if I'm doing anything wrong or what could I do? My 3DS firmware is 4.5...
