3DS Homebrew Channel?

Post by SsJVasto » Mon Aug 25, 2014 6:23 pm

I just came across this post on Google+ (user +Hackinformer, so I doubt its legitimacy) that said there is an exploitable game on the market which could allow for a Homebrew Channel, much like we had on Wii...

Here's the link to the article:
http://hackinformer.com/2014/08/25/home ... o-the-3ds/
and they source GBATemp at the end of the article,
http://gbatemp.net/threads/blargsnes-sn ... ip.369900/
but only about the "lolSnes" SNES Emulator for 3DS...

I managed to find the posts about the Homebrew channel on Twitter, here they are:

https://twitter.com/smealum/status/503700335009886208
https://twitter.com/smealum/status/503733811964682240
It seems we need a specific game, as it was in the earlier (but not earliest) days of PSP hacking, so I have some hope on this...

Anyway, I wanted to share this with my favorite community: Wololo.net! What do you guys think? Is this legit?

There will be one released. He almost has it complete. I've been following it on twitter. I'm pretty sure it's legit, but I can't say 100%

I'll leave 40$ lying around to buy the game when it's announced, just in case... I'm worried thought that this exploit might only work on a European version of the game (or a european game) since the Video I saw ran the exploit on a 3DS in the "France" region...

(Edit: This aint no Playstation Console, can't import games)

Smea confirmed that the exploit should run with European, North American and Japanese consoles.

He said something that it might not work with chinese consoles.

The game is available as eShop (digital) version and as a retail cartridge.

I would assume that the game has different regional versions, and that all of them can be exploited (similar to our familiar PSP game exploits).

I am kind of interested in this one, so I am following this myself :)

I am still a bit "behind". Is it an NDS or a 3DS exploit game?

And if it is an NDS exploit game, isnt it possible to use a dang flashcard to run the exploit game and exploit the 3DS?

assuming it also has an eshop version besides retail cartridge, it is a 3DS game. The only downloadable DS game was on Japan store and it was a gift or something like that if i remember right.

@The Z: It's a full 3DS exploit game (NDS emulation on 3DS is similar to PSPEMU on PSVITA, infact a lot of NDS flashcard are fully compatible whit 3DS like the SuperCard DSTWO) but it seems to be only usermode (Smealum told this when someone asked him why the Homebrew Channel will not have a rom/iso loader).

I'm ready for this. It's always exciting when a system finally starts getting cracked into.

Apparently he has (or had) kernel level exploits previously, but that this release will intentionally be user mode to prevent piracy. He doesn't want any of his work to lead to piracy on the system.
