Downgrading from 10.x/9.x to 9.2 using homebrew

Post by genxmur »

NOTE:Apparently this might brick your N3DS but it's much more safer using an O3DS,Also if you try downgrading from 10.4/10.5 or anything above you might brick it,10.3 is safe(Did it myself)

Hey Guys,Let's get into it.
Firstly you're gonna need a homebrew launcher,If you don't have one I recommend Ninjhax but basically anything works.
Link for Ninjhax:https://smealum.github.io/ninjhax2/
Congrats. You can now run homebrew
*Ahem* Moving on.
1)Get the sysUpdater app from this link:https://gbatemp.net/attachments/sysupdater-zip.34449/
2)Place the contents in your '3ds' folder (NOT the one with Caps).
3)Grab the update file you want from http://www.3dsiso.com/cia-format-dlc-s- ... gions.html

NOTE:Be sure to get it from the right section i.e. if you're using an O3DS then get from the O3DS section

4)Now place the file in your SD Card,Most people prefer to create an update folder in the SD Card root and place the file in there but it's up to you.
5)Open your homebrew launcher and go into sysUpdater,You will see a few options.Select Downgrade. If the app freezes or any error occurs you can try using a different homebrew launcher or try the process with the same launcher a couple of times. It's usually nothing to worry over though,I had to try 3-5 times to get it to work.
6)Wait Patiently,After the process is completed your 3ds will reboot(Hopefully) .Go into your system settings to make sure you're on the correct firmware.

You can do the same process if you want to update,Just replace the update file with the desired version and instead of selecting 'downgrade' select 'update' in sysUpdater.
Enjoy :D ;)

I think the tutorial in gbatemp is much more detailed than here. Guys , you couldn't be more careful when doing this downgrading.
