How to revive the in game clock on a Pokemon GBA Game

Post by Daniel_Davies85 » Sat Aug 23, 2014 10:32 am

So this may be completely useless and out dated but I still play Pokemon Emerald and discovered this trick by myself the other night.

As we all know the batteries on these games don't last forever and once they run out you get the "the internal battery has stopped working. Time based events will no longer occur" message.

Well I've discovered how to kick the clock, and in turn time based events like berries growing, back into life without having to start a new game, which is the only answer I could find online when I was searching for answers some years back.

So, it's relatively simple and I'm not sure it qualifies as a "tutorial" but here goes;

Requirements;

- GBA Pokemon game eg; Emerald
- DS Pokemon Game eg Platinum (with a completed save file and access to Pal Park)
- DS Lite (it needs the GBA Slot)

1 - Replace the internal battery on your GBA Pokemon game cartridge (this is pretty obvious and simple, and there are plenty of guides online as to how to do this. Though if anybody would like pictures and a detailed explanation Ill happily do that.

2 - Fire up the GBA Pokemon game to ensure that you no longer get the "battery has stopped working" message.

3 - Change the time and/or date on your DS Lite to a time and/or date other than the actual time and/or date to which your DS Pokemon game is synced.

4 - Plug your GBA Pokemon game into the second slot of the DS Lite.

5 - Fire up the DS Pokemon game and go to the "Migrate Pokemon" option

6 - Press Yes twice on the touch pad.

7 - A message will come up saying that you are using a different DS or the internal clock has been altered and must be reset,

8 - Press yes to adjust the internal clock.

9 - After a short period of time it will tell you that the clock has been adjusted and that Pokemon can not be migrated for 24 hours.

10 - And that's it. Restart the DS and fire up the GBA Pokemon game. Time based events like Berries and the TV in various houses should now be back to thier functional best.

I'd really like somebody else to confirm this as I only have the one GBA cartridge at a point in the game where this is do-able but it worked for me.

My save file still has 320 hours on it and berries now grow again.

Hope this helps somebody,

Dan.
