New PS3 noob on the block.....

I am going to purchase a new PS3 this week. Are there any mods that you folks would recommend that I install on it prior to updating the firmware? Additionally, which ones would you recommend that I put on after the system has the latest firmware?

When you buy a PS3, if you're interested in hacking it, buy a Fat.

Oh yeah, and before you update, tell us what firmware it came with.

only certain slims support cfw, all fats support it however and certain fats even play ps2 discs nativity
