This tutorial will teach you how to play any PS2 game on your PS3 in CFW.

You will need :
-Download this pack that includes all what you need : http://www.mediafire.com/download/oy9uf ... _tools.rar
-A PS3 in CFW 4.XX
-React PSN
-A PS2 iso

-First, on the PC, install 'PS3 tools v2.2.2' that you'll find in the archive : TOOLS-2 [PC] \ ps3tools222 \ install_ps3tools_2.2.2.exe
To install it, right click on the icon and run as administrator.

-If you have an error and you are unable to install the software correctly install the VB5 runtime you that can find by following this link : http://download.microsoft.com/download/ vbvm50.exe
then restart the installation "ps3 tools 2.2.2" as above.

-Then locate the 'PKG_ContentID.exe' that you find in the folder:
c: \ Users \ XXXX \ PS3Tools \ PS3Tools \ tools \ PKG_ContentID.exe
('XXXX' is your user name in windows)
run it as administrator then once started, close it, this will install the 'create PKG'.

-Then run 'ps2classic GUI v1.3' that you will find here: TOOLS-2 [PC] \ ps2classics_GUI_v1.3 \ PS2Classics_GUI.exe
Once launched:
- Click the 'encrypt' tab
- In 'decrypted picture', put your ps2 iso
- In Content ID, insert this:
2P0001-PS2U10000_00-0000111122223333

- In 'Klicensee', insert this:
E4E54FD67C16C316F47829A30484D843

- Click 'add LIMG sector' and say yes on the popup.

- Finally click 'encrypt' in the bottom right and wait.
Now you should find your game under the name 'ISO.BIN.ENC' in the software folder 'ps2classic GUI v1.3' which means here: TOOLS-2 [PC] \ ps2classics_GUI_v1.3 \ ISO.BIN.ENC

-Copy your encrypted iso in the folder 'USDIR' from 'ps2U10000' which means here : 1-PS2 CLASSIC PLACEHOLDER \ PS2U10000 \ USDIR \ ISO.BIN.ENC

- Optional Step: Customizing XMB:
To change the appearance of your game on the XMB, follow these steps :
- If you have a 'PIC0.png' delete it, it is useless.
- Recreate 'ICON0.PNG' in 320X176 and 'PIC1.PNG' in 1920X1080 for the image of your game.

- Then right click on the folder 'ps2U10000' and click 'make pkg' in the menu.
Now your PS2 game is pkg format (with a long name like: 'ps2u10000-00-0000111122223333.pkg') and ready to be installed on your ps3.

Now that your game is pkg format, we'll prepare your USB key or external hard drive:
- You must copy the folder 'Exdata' to the root of your drive or external hard drive, you will find it in the archive here: 1-PS2 CLASSIC PLACEHOLDER \ Exdata
- Copy also 'reActPSN_v2.23_CFW_340_4XX.pkg' to the root of the hard drive or USB key. You'll find there: 1-PS2 CLASSIC PLACEHOLDER \ reActPSN_v2.23_CFW_340-4XX \ reActPSN_v2.23_CFW_340_4XX.pkg
- Finally, copy the 'ps2u10000-00-0000111122223333.pkg' you created at the root of your USB drive. You'll find it here: 1-PS2 CLASSIC PLACEHOLDER \ ps2u10000-00-0000111122223333.pkg

Installation on ps3 :
-Go to your PS3, and Connect your USB / external hard drive.
-In 'Pkg installer' install to the console:
'reActPSN_v2.23_CFW_340_4XX'
then your game:
'ps2u10000 0000111122223333.pkg-00-'
You should find the software 'reactpsn' and your game is installed in the 'game' section on the XMB.

License Activation:
- Create a new user with the name 'aa' .
- Launch reactpsn from the xmb. The console should reboot by announcing she was not normally shut down. Do not worry nothing serious press round and return to the xmb.
- You can now launch your game.

the only limitation to the classics method is they have a 720p resolution lock
ps2 iso loading supports 1080p resolution but is a bc console only ability

So I finally sussed all this out and got it working.

The final stages of this guide aren't very clear because I had a lot of trouble transferring the .PKG file to the PS3 because it was over 4gb, which I'm assuming most packaged ps2 games are going to be.

I had to find various other guides and put all the pieces together and use multiman and FileZilla to transfer it via Ethernet cable. Then install it and It all worked fine.

I'm not sure if this guide will allow multi disk ps2 games to be packaged together so I'm going to look into it and ill report back once I find out.

HEELLPP!! i downloaded MSVBVM50 and placed the DLL file in my program files as per the readme.txt and tried to reinstall ps3_tools but i got the error message still...I tried to place the DLL file in both program file and x86 but same thing...any tips?

or just use RetroXMB beta3 it's much easier

Easier way has been found lol webMAN by deank loads PS2 ISO with ease! just transfer over via FTP or USB and mount with webMAN and BINGO! you're in business im pretty sure webMAN works on all 4.xx CFW's don't quote me on that one though lol

TITLE is very misleading in this.

You can not play ANY PS2 Game.

On a non-BC console you can play about 70% of PS2 games.

best way to play pretty much any ps2 game is to get a phat ps2 slap a HDD in it, run free mcboot and Opl! old school but good!
