OK, this is my entrance for the april tutorials contest, as well is my first post on wololo forum, first off all i have to highlight one thing: my native language is Spanish, i cant speak (or write) English perfectly but i will try my best ,so.... lets start.
1)what is a CFW
well CFW means custom firmware, a custom firmware is a NON official edition of the operative sistem, is usually illegal (but if you guys, are here i think you know what you're doing
) so now you know what is a CFW, lets continue.2)what you need
here what you need guys:
- 1) your ps3 with 3.55 firmware or less (i wont work if is higher)
2)a CFW (in this case i gonna use OpenSide, here is the link http://www.mediafire.com/download/dw45j ... 3UPDAT.PUP, is my favorite CFW but if you guys want use another do it

3)you need that your firmware (the one the comes with your ps3)is equal to the CFW you're about to install, Example: openside for 3.55/firmware 3.55.
1)seriously, check your ps3 firmware or you are in danger of brick your ps3, go to
then go to system information an check your firmware.
2)clear a pendrive an put the CFW (openside) on it now you have to put the pendrive on the FIRST usb port of your ps3.
3) now we gonna access the recovery mode:
- 1)turn on your ps3
2)when the ps3 is on and you are in the XMB turn off(stand by) the ps3
3)now we turn on the ps3 and we keep the on button pushed until you hear 1 ,and moments later, 2 "beep like sounds" the ps3 the will suddenly shut down (don scare keep reading)
4)we repeat the last step but when we hear the two beeps we gonna realese the button, you have entered recovery mode.
4) choose system update and when the ps3 finish to check the update files, push home and accept the contract agreement, the CFW will install.
5)when the update is complete you will have your CFW installed!!
