There are two ways to get web-browser works:
1. Edit HOSTS file on you router. You need router with OpenWRT, DD-WRT firmwares or any firmware that's allow you to edit /etc/hosts file on router. Add string below at the end of HOSTS file

Code: Select all

manuals.playstation.net 89.108.88.221
Then open: Settings -> User's guide
2. Without editing hosts. You need open Users's guide then scroll to page footer, click "support", on next page click Sony logo (not PS!) , scroll to footer, press G+ and go to g+ page, click on menu in top-right corner, select goole search.
If you don't see G+ icon - change country on sony's main site to Russia or Turkey or United Kingdom

I can make more detailed instructions about router setup, if it's interesting not only for me.

Couldn't you also just use a proxy?

Proxy can't help you get address bar.

It can help you only change start page in users's guide.

Makes sense. Figured there'd be a reason you didn't make a tutorial for a proxy method if it was possible but figured I'd ask. Thanks for the Tutorial!

I'm not seeing this G+ logo on Sony.com. Am I doing it correctly? I clicked where it said Sony, not the Playstation logo, scrolled all the way to the bottom and only see facebook, twitter, instagram, vine and tumblr. No Google +

EDIT: Found another way which worked for me, just a few more steps. You need open Users's guide then scroll to page footer, click "support", on next page click the Sony logo up in the to right hand side of the page, (not Playstation Logo), scroll all the way to the bottom, click Contact Us, scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page and click global home, scroll all the way to the bottom of the page click on Youtube, scroll all the way to the bottom of the page click on +YouTube, NOW click the menu icon at the top right on their Google + account and click Google search.

Many more steps than what you had but there is one more method which works that I can personally vouch for. May even be an easier method which will strip out a few steps from what I posted.

So this process just activates the web browser or for downloading it?

I have a 20th Anniversary Edition PS4 that I purchased when they were for sale from Sony.
It is still sealed and I believe they all came with 1.76, but can not confirm it.

This method gets you online to google without using the web browser which cannot be launched without being connected to PSN, it doesn't download anything.

Oh, I see. And the trick needs to be done every time or just once?
This is also for the Webkit Exploit I take it?

Normally using the web browser requires a one time PSN activation or needs to be connected at all times?
