Change the power supply of your PS4

Post by yunleletou » Tue Aug 26, 2014 11:24 am

The electricity is very dangerous for devices that use it when it don't have a stable voltage like how it is in my country. I’ll talk here only about PS4. The instable electricity may damage especially the power supply unit of your console.

This tutorial will guide you on how to change the power supply of the Playstation 4.

NOTE : I really recommend putting a UPS to your console if the electricity voltage on your country isn’t stable to avoid any problem.

Step 1
For obvious safety reasons, prior to the replacement of the power supply of your PlayStation 4, it is necessary to turn off the power and disconnect all cables (especially the power and HDMI cable) .

Step 2
The upper left cover of the PS4 opens very easily. Push it slightly outward from the console, then gently lift it. The cover should then unclip easily.

Step 3
The upper left cover your PS4 is now disassembled.

Step 4
Using a Phillips screwdriver, remove the screws holding the hard drive truck (under the cover that you removed earlier).

Step 5
Now hold the truck of the hard drive, then remove it completely from your PS4.
The hard drive (with cart) is now removed.

Step 6
Four screws hold up the side cover of the PlayStation 4. These are hidden behind stickers.
Two stickers are placed on each screw. It is necessary to remove them in order to access them.

Step 7
Using a spatula, gently peel off the first sticker.
Using the same spatula, peel off the second sticker (located under the first).
You can now repeat the process on the other 6 stickers (3 pairs of 2 stickers), presented in the previous step.

Step 8
Using a Torx screwdriver, remove the four screws holding the side cover of the PS4. These are the four screws that were hidden by stickers in the previous steps.

Step 9
Then proceed to remove the side cover of the PS4. To do this, gently press forward while lifting it.
The side cover of your console is now disassembled.

Step 10
Now unscrew the 5 screws that secure the power supply to the chassis of the console: 2 Phillips screws and 3 Torx screws.

Step 11
Disconnect gently the layer connected to the power supply.

Step 12
Hold the power supply in order to proceed with its removal.
The power supply can sometimes be a bit hard to remove because of its system contact locking. Feel free to apply a little more force to remove it.

Step 13
The power supply of your PlayStation 4 is now removed.
Perform its replacement with a new one.

To reassemble your power supply with the console, follow this guide now in reverse. :D
