Install games via USB (new method)

Post by Piclet » Tue Sep 13, 2016 7:26 pm

With this method you can install games faster through USB up to this moment I have installed 5 games all working.

Requirements:
a) Qcma (v 0.3.13 works for my)
b) A PSP savedata (i use Loco Roco Midnight Carnival [NPEG00024_GameData0])
c) VPKTool 1.3.1 (Optional to make automatically all)

Steps:
1. Split the vkp game with VPKTool, select the first three options (Backup the original .vpk file, Mark as Safe and Unzip files for FTP) to obtain PCSXXXXXX_install.vpk and PCSXXXXXX_ftp folder. (u can delete PCSE00640_ftp.zip).

2. Change names from PCSXXXXXX_install.vpk to ICON.VPK and PCSXXXXXX_ftp folder just delete _ftp (both names must be on caps).

3. Move both the VPK file and folder to the PSP savedata folder. This must be in the path (PSVita/GAMES/PSAVEDATA/XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX Or the path you have) to be transferred via Qcma.

4. Connect your PSVita to your PC via USB cable. But dont open the Content Manager yet.

5. In your PC run Qcma (If you do not have it open) right clik on Qcma tray icon and click on Refresh database.

6. On PSVita open Content Manager and transfer the PSP savedata.

7. Using VitaShell, find the PSP Savedata folder, (It should be at ux0:/pspemu/PSP/SAVEDATA/) and install the VPk file.

8. Now move all content on PCSXXXXXX folder in the PSP Savedata folder to ux:/app/PCSXXXXXX.

Thats all, u can delete ICON.VPK and PCSXXXXXX folder from PSP Savedata to save space.

Now I have a doubt, this method is faster and easier, but I do not know why there should be double the space on the memory card to transfer PSP savedata, for example, try to pass the game Uncharted (3.26 GB) and in my PSVita i have 5.8 GB of free space, and try to pass my PSVita tells me "you need 1117 MB more free space", anyone has any idea or just me.
