Switch PSVita MC without formatting it (different firmware)

Post by CelesteBlue » Fri Aug 05, 2016 9:39 pm

Require :

a PSVita with 3.60 firmware + HENkaku
a PSVita with < 3.60 firmware
A Windows PC with FileZilla

On the PSVita, open molecularShell and press SELECT (to activate FTP mode).
On the PC, with FileZilla, connect to the PSVita.
Edit ux0:id.dat with NotePad.
Modify the SVR=03600000 line by SVR=01000000
It means that now every PSVita with firmware <= 1.00 will be able to use this MC.
Now, close Notepad with saving.
Filezilla ask you if you want to upload the modified file. Confirm.

Now, you can power off the system and switch the MC !

PS : it's my first tutorial on Wololo, I will improve this when I will have the time...

Hey, big time thanks for this! I've been wondering if this was possible.

I really wish that *somewhere* there was an index of cool filesystem tricks like this for easy reference. I would do it if I had more time, but seeing that I don't, I'll have to add it to my bookmarks bar.

Seriously, thank you so much!

You can also do the usual trick: deleting id.dat.

Yes, but are the account id and online id restored in the id.dat after switching ?
I don't want to lose the account activation...
