[Tutorial]Installing VHBL and Running Homebrews.

Post by Noteworthy49 » Tue Dec 01, 2015 12:57 pm

I highly recommend that you turn of all wireless connections on your Vita, and that you use OpenCMA on your PC instead of the good ol' CMA since using CMA has a chance of the Vita upgrading the firmware forcefully.I've also not really included any download links for it since I take it there are many versions for it and Im Attempting to go for a general tutorial for most or all versions. Please note that if I made a mistake thats probably due to not being in the hacking scene for a while. So if the ways have changed forgive me :( Now lets get started

Assuming you've already got the files:
1)Extract the HBL archive in your CMA PSP Savedata folder named PSSAVEDATA/[Random stuff here] on your PC.In case you don't know its location,You can check it in Settings in CMA.
2)Connect your PS Vita to the PC using CMA,it should give you the choice to copy the savedata to the Vita.If it doesn't then that means Something is wrong.Usually this is because of wrong extraction location but some of my friends also experienced unique problems.
3)To run HBL, start the Exploit game
4)In the savegame menu, open the HBL savegame
5)After this,For your specific game check where to go next on the forums or on the internet since I think that every game has a different path from here and I want to keep this generalised.I honestly apologise for this. But anyways,After that pain the adventure begins,HBL should launch/start.Thats it for this part.

Now In order to install Homebrews you'll have to package them first.
Packaging and installing homebrews:
1)So firstly,Download the Homebrew you want and extract it.
2)Take any random(or specific,Whatever) savedata except the HBL one,Then add install.zip to that particular folder. The Savedata should contain PNGs Bins etc. and the ZIP file we just added. After this we can continue on to installing it(Finally).
3)Run OpenCMA(PC) and CMA(Vita).
4)Copy the previously packaged savedata with your homebrew in install.zip on your Vita.
5)Run HBL and navigate through to the savedata folder,Particularly to the newly downloaded/added one and press X.A Pop-up message should appear.Select Yes and wait for the process to finish annnnnd you're done.

You should be able to launch the homebrew now if it all went well.Thx for keeping up with this tutorial.I ask you to be lenient in the feedback since I've not written that many tutorials.Especially not on wololo so I don't really know how the community is like.Besides Im not sure how my attempt at a general tutorial went.Anyways,Note Signing off  Bye
