I have a question about the Pexploit Lite v1.0. Can you just add the (unmodified)PSM Assistent.pkg file directly to a OFW ps3 backup, restore it on the OFW ps3-- then transfer the PSMAssistant.pkg to a vita 3.18(on your same PSN ID) using the Content Manager QCMA trick?....

**I want PSM app on my Vita with 3.18... Please Help me understand because I do not have a CFW PS3.
(Please Excuse me.. I am sort of new to the whole .pkg installing thing)
It doesn't work, after adding the .pkg to the backup via Pexploit Lite, the PS3 crashes when you connect the PSVita to transfer the .pkg.

yes my ps3 crash yet

sure. you'll need psmdev.pkg, ps3xportgui and your idps.bin

6. add the folder from the previous step to your first backup from step 1 (use the 'Add from an existing copy-protected Backup' option in ps3xportgui), then restore this backup on your ps3

hello I am stuck here at step 6 aps3xportgui reports

ERROR :
Unable to open game dir

Anyone got any tips on what I am getting wrong? @K45

HI all,

My Vita is on 3.10FW. I have setup qmca but when I unplug my vita at the copy content bit and it errors on the screen and I plug it into the PS3 and try to send over Network Media Player it errors at the end with code E-80558325? anyone know how to get around this? I have my vita on plane mode, no network, vita turned off and back on again using qmca but stuck at sending over the player. I'm trying to follow this guide using a PS3 on OFW. I was hoping to use pexpolite lite cause I have not got a idps.bin file being as though I'm on 4.70OFW on PS3:-

1. create a lightweight backup (no games\saves\videos etc.) on your ps3??? Dont Know

2. go to ps store and download any ps vita app (i got Network Media Player, but it should probably work with any other app), then make another backup??? Dont Know, how do you make a back up on a USB stick on your ps3? it will not let you?

3. extract the whole second backup with ps3xportgui???was going to use Pexploit lite for this bit

4. search extracted folder named dev_hdd0 and locate the folder with your downloaded app (mine was in dev_hdd0\vsh\game_pkg\80000001). inside there should be a .pkg file along with three others (d0.pdb, d1.pdb, ICON_FILE). copy this folder somewhere, but recreate the original folder structure (i.e. newfolder\dev_hdd0\vsh\game_pkg\80000001 in my case). extracted backup folders are no longer needed, you can delete them

5. open the folder you just copied, then replace the .pkg file with psmdev.pkg, but keep the original filename (i.e. VTXgiSAPiRkiRGYEShqfBDtjjmwoOKtEbCMHBMBsWRmgmyiPsCNMTzwEpguevtUj.pkg in my case)

6. add the folder from the previous step to your first backup from step 1 (use the 'Add from an existing copy-protected Backup' option in ps3xportgui), then restore this backup on your ps3

7. connect your vita to ps3 by using the QCMA trick, then transfer the app to your vita. it will be listed as the original app you downloaded in step 2 (Network Media Player in my case), but it's actually psmdev assistant.

8. install this update via package installer and you're done

some of these steps are probably unnecessary, but this is exactly how i did it. my vita is on 3.18 btw

Can anyone help me out on this please :) I already have the installer package set up just need to somehow get the dev menu on my vita? These instructions are not exactly clear for the PS3 OFW user.

First of all, to follow these instructions you need your PS3's idps.bin, if you don't have it you can't do them, and since you are on 4.70 OFW you can't obtain your idps.bin because it has been patched on 4.70.

If you don't have a PS3 with a CFW, or a PS3 with its idps.bin , I think you have no other options than update your PSV to latest version.

Is there no way of getting just the pkg file bit I need at the end to install with the package installer and do it that way, without having to go through the steps?

No, you can't install the pkg via package installer because it is not DRM free.

So even if I get accepted for my PSM licence key, there is no way of doing it?

maybe you're selecting the wrong folder? ps3xportgui warns you that selected folder should contain only two folders: dev_hdd0 and another. if you did everything exactly like i did, you should select 'newfolder'

btw got my license approved and can finally confirm that everything works without updating! so don't update unless you're absolutely sure you have no other way to get psmdev assistant on your vita

To install the PSM pkg on a vita on 3.18/3.36 firmware without a CFW PS3 and without the console ID needed to decrypt the ps3 backup, just:

- Install charles proxy
- Set the proxy on ps3
- Download something from the store (i download travel bug, about 50mb)
- replace the pkg link with the local pkg file*

* firstly rename the local pkg like the psn pkg, secondly the dl link and bgdl (background download) link are different, so you need to understand which link remap.

When it works, you will see the size of the local pkg (about 8000 kb), not the size of the original package (for me about 50 mb).

Obviously you need to register as a PSM developer before install the PSM pkg.
sorry 4 my bad english :)
