I can't seem to do anything with the .pkg file for the PSM Dev Assistant. I have tried a few tools for extracting but no luck so far.
Can anyone provide any more info on using ps3xport/pexploit for this particular package?

Thanks for the tutorial, just tried it with my CFW ps3, had to go from Rogero-Cobra 4.46 to the latest REBUG but successfully got the DevAssistant running on my 3.18 vita

Do you have to update your PS3 to the latest CFW? I'm on Rogero 4.55 and I'm reluctant to upgrade the firmware in case of a brick or some other mistake. I'm a noob with these kinds of things...

Try connecting your Vita to your PS3 using the Open/QCMA trick if you successfully sign in without getting an error demanding an update of the PS3 firmware on your Vita your good to go. It's worth a try before making up your mind about updating or not, I have a 2501A that's been QA Flagged for ages, it has even seen some soft bricks and whatnot from the cex/dex days so it was no biggy for me, I'm back on my customized 4.46 again(best firmware since Kmeaw). I believe any firmware above 4.50 should be able to allow the transfer with Open/QCMA, since it's the 4.50 firmware that introduces some improvement in the PS3/Vita communication, but that's conjecturing. See for your self and report back, best of luck.

If you use ps3xport, does it require you to know your PS3 ID ( which I'm not sure if people can still obtain)?

Did anyone try downloading the assistant with a 3.50 vita and transferring it to a >3.50 vita on same account works? as i am on 3.18, i can also run the updater package too if i can get the assistant installed.

I'll be looking around for a second Vita just so I can update one to 3.50 and test transferring to 3.36, but doesn't 3.18 have access to the package installer? I wanted to try that in the first place but only certain people know how to get it to work on 3.3x, and I haven't tried asking around for clues on that yet.
