It will then give you your computer address and a port number on the black pop up screen (ex: 8282). Enter the number it gives you under your advanced settings for a port and see if it works.
Post updated to recommend the portable version for Windows. Also added a note about firewall/UAC.

Maybe this is why I can't get vitaupdateblocker to work on my vita?? I'm bummed! Wish I didn't sign off, because I thought it was causing problems with OpenCMA and my vita to not connect with my pc. But even if I left my vita signed on 24/7 without signing off, would there been any difference? Would I have to try signing in AGAIN even if I'm basically signed in? For example, like for security reasons to sign in again like at online shops or something.
I think you're missing something here - this won't let you sign into PSN. You won't be able to connect to the store directly. That was never the point. This is simply so that you can copy content from a PS3 to a Vita TV without updating the latter.

Hey, sogarth! ;) Yeah, I know, I'm just trying out vitaupdateblocker on my vita, so I know how to use it in the long run with my vita and pstv; I guess you could say I'm simply experimenting with it on my psvita, trying to get it to connect via proxy and bypass the updates and see how it works out. Now that I some knowledge on how to use it, I'll be using it to block the updates while transferring the games from my ps3 to my pstv like you said on your tutorial; it's just the vitaupdateblocker fails on my psvita to get to PSN, playing games online, the need to sign in is what all the long frustrating fuss and questions coming from me is about.. which is becoming sort of off-topic.. I'm very sorry about that.

Anyway, my PSTV is coming tomorrow, I'll get back to you guys here and let you all know how things turn out.

PSVita hacking, ftw!

Cheers.

Hey sorry but I am still a little confused.. My vita is 3.18 ps tv is 3.2 ( still waiting to be unboxed should get some time over the weekend) if I plan on using the same psn account what's stopping from me activating the tv with my vita memory card? Secondly once my ps tv is activated would I be able to just throw in my vita memory card and enjoy tn v at that point? Or is it necessary to get exploit the files on the tv memory? Thanks in advance!!

Hello friend the problem is once you put your memory card from 3.18 to 3.20. You will not be able to put it back in 3.18 without updating. Also just by putting in a memory card does not mean your vita tv account is activated.
Game On!

Alright folks, some PSTV news.. yet another long wall of text again lol I hope you all don't mind. Just some of my advice, tips, and info for the PSTV exploiting scene here.

After doing some research, I don't think that you can just simply put your existing psvita's memory stick, with all the exploits, apps, and media into your PSTV in an instant and have it work. I believe it just doesn't work like that.. The PSTV might, very likely tell you to update your vita or format the ms in order to use the memory stick on the pstv.. So why doesn't the psvita ms's files work with pstv? Of course, I believe probably because the PSTV is at firmware 3.20. With the apps and everything in the memory stick used with a psvita that is only compatible with firmware 3.18, it just won't work out, even though they are very similar firmwares or technically the same, so yeah, that is probably why.. Well, poopers.. there you have it guys. It's not going to be that easy, I think.. BUT tomorrow when my PSTV comes, I'm going to give it a shot anyways! See if putting in a ms that is currently used on my vita presently on firmware 3.18 along with all of my media that's in it, with pstv's firmware 3.20, if it doesn't work, okay looks like all of us, if we want to run TN-V on the PSTV, we have no choice but to either going through another hassle of getting another ms separately for the PSTV itself as well besides getting a PSN game and the PSTV activated, and installing homebrew via PC starting off fresh like how we done before with our vitas, or if you want to exploit your pstv asap NOW, even if it means not being able to play your exploits on your vita temporarily, back up your vita files to pc first for a future ms to restore and use with a vita, so then format the ms to use with pstv, install a game, get it activated, and install exploits. So the conclusion is trying to share ms for both systems are probably not a good idea at all lol It's a shame.. Hope this all helps. It's the least I can do to give back to the hacking scene here ;) .. Anyway I'll get back to you guys soon later on. Meanwhile, if you guys want a hacked PSTV, now is probably the best time to take advantage! Buy one and hope you guys get a a firmware no higher than 3.20 and also have a unhacked PS3 around and learn how vitaupdateblocker works.. Good luck.

**EDIT**

Well, there you have it guys, Alpmaster himself gave some little bit of valuable PSTV info.. I've been wanting to ask again about a similar question be0ut asked.. Sounds like it will work! But it won't work when you put it back on your vita that's on firmware 3.18, huh? Bummer. :\ Looks like I personally might have to just get a separate ms and start from scratch or something.. but hey Alpmaster, I have a question for you, I hope you don't mind answering.. what will appear and what will not appear on the PSTV menu after putting in a ms that was used before by a vita? Will all of the media still remain around (PSP games, PS games? Apps) and will not work at all until installing a new PSN game and having the PSTV activated? Maybe I don't need to go through the hassle of formatting, but just making sure I get the PSTV activated so everything will run like on the vita.. Will the PSP game Talkman travel Tokyo work on PSTV? What exploit do you have working with your PSTV if you have one right now activated and everything.

Anyway thanks a lot for some of the much needed info, Alpmaster.

You can just put in the memory card and have it work, as long as the console is activated with same psn account and the firmware is same or higher than the one saved on mem card

Once you do that, you won't be able to put it in lower firmware console, because it *remembers* the highest fw it was used on

;) Aha, I see.

Thanks for confirming, Kankertje. I really appreciate you joining in on this to help clarify some stuff. Can't wait to try the PSTV out tomorrow.

8-) By the way, Kenkertye, I have question.. does the downloaded PSStore game on the PS3 have to be "fresh"? Meaning just newly downloaded and purchased right off the PSN to install right into my PSTV asap? Or just having any existing PlayStation Store digital PSP, PS games downloaded on my PS3, that is a few days old now, transferred and installed on my PSTV will work to activate? Sorry for the questions lol, I'm still such a noob with all the activation process, how it works, and everything.. I probably have done it in the past, but kinda forgotten about it or something..

Actually I don't own ps3 and did the activation yesterday for first time at friend, but I think it shouldn't matter how old the download is

 Woo hoo! Okay, that is good news for me and everyone needing to know.. I was afraid I had to spend on a game again. $_X. Well anyhow, I noticed you merged my posts. Whoopsies. My bad about double posting. I kinda dozed off and forgot about the posting rules around here, I'll be sure to be careful next time.

From what I can tell, it's part of the process of when the PS3 copies the game to the Vita is when the license data gets generated and copied over (the PS3 needs the Internet connect to generate the license for the Vita). So the copy that's sitting on the PS3 actually doesn't "know" which device it's going to end up on, so yeah, your download could be ancient for all that it matters. :)
