My $430 dollar PS4 PSNless paperweight...

Post by heleius » Fri Nov 15, 2013 6:31 am

Well, I've been trying to log in to PSN from my PS4 for over an hour now, and called Sony twice, and apparently 'their PS4 PSN servers are full' and 'since so many people are trying to log in at once their servers can't handle all the congestion' and I should wait an hour and try again. In another hour hundreds of thousands of more people from different time zones will be trying to sign in though. So I asked the Sony rep where the logic in that was, and I got the answer 'things will calm down in my area.' I had no idea Sony had special PS4 servers installed in western PA! Awesome! Anyone else having the same problems? :x

Not only is everybody logging in at once, but they're updating their systems and downloading account games, PS+ games. Many users, heavy use equals congested PSN. It'll get better tomorrow.

they should have seen this coming, it's not like there's a million+ users online, how will they handle when the PS4 becomes more mainstream?

Hmm, similar to the U.S. healthcare website thingy ... :o

My unit is just now being loaded onto a UPS truck to get shipped to my house. Three more painful hours waiting at work; hopefully I can get on later today.

Or like every MMO launch ever.

Agreed completely. It's not like they haven't been artificially limiting the number of pre-orders either.

exactly. it finally took me 3 & 1/2 hours to log into PSN, and then it took over 6 hours afterwords to download the 5 free games. (Resogun, Warframe, Contrast, DC Universe Online, and Blacklight) Granted thats like 50gb total, but with my internet connection it should have taken like a 1/3 of the time... Sony unprepared for a launch... Go figure...

Oh, and anyone wondering about HDD space on the PS4, I've had mine for 10 hours now, and bought 1 game, Knack, and 110gbs are already gone... :/

Yeah, I spent about 1 1/2 hours downloading 2 free games, and tried to play one, but the server connection kept timing out. I'm not all that surprised, but do hope they get it together soon .. I'm going to get PSN+ tomorrow and want my free games LOL

Well, you can't honestly say you didn't even begin to think something like this could happen during a product launch HUGE as this one...

Guess you'll just have to accept that time will heal this wound. :P

Well, yeah, considering it was a month ago, it's not a bit deal, still, Sony shoulda anticipated the mass amount of traffic on their servers considering the amount of presales, and PSN being down for 2 days after launch was just stupid, there was no way they couldn't known this would have happened...

They knew but probably choose to do nothing from an economical standpoint. Why invert money and resources on additional servers when the ps4 influx of users were gonna be over in a week then go back to the normal traffic levels like always?
