@Acid_Snake: do you actually read or just extract random phrases and answer them with other random phrases? Or do you just mean to troll around? Or are you a spanish politician? ;)

Today all computers are "personal" unless you specify they are not. So almost nobody uses the term "personal computer" anymore. You just say "my computer". So no, PC is not an abbreviation of "personal computer" anymore, but a way to specify that this computer is IBM PC-compatible. I hope this is clear enough now, peaso cabezota  ;)

Still, doesn't matter if it comes with drivers if one cannot use them. So until a hack is made and the decrypted drivers are available the most that one could do is to bypass the loader to boot their own kernel and writting all the drivers from scratch. Of cource this make it totally unfeasible as a "PC".

Note: i am using "PC" term as a generic device that can run most applications oriented to a desktop/portable computer since the original term is somewhat limited nowadays.

Anyway, back on topic:
Does this mean Sony will bring back the OtherOS feature? Will this allow a faster hacking of the console?
OtherOS? after sony removed it from the PS3 ..... i don't think so (of course i want to be wrong on this). If the console gets hacked it could lead to real development and not some simple homebrew like the PS3 since a lot of apps/libraries are made with the premise that it will run on x86 hardware .
Plugin list
Working on: QPSNProxy, QCMA - Open source content manager for the PS Vita
Playing: Error: ENOTIME
Repositories: github, google code
Just feel the code..

Like I said about other os. Pc architecture. Sony may create a secure kernel (so it won't be hacked as easy), .

But yeah, sony may give it another go >.>

The question is not if the kernel is secure. FreeBSD kernel is open source and Sony is not likely to modify it too much (otherwise why choose an open source kernel  ). What's gonna be secured is the user software running on top of it.

Yeah I see you are saying. I suppose we will have to wait til november before we start a solid argument

GRUB is probably best boot loader as for now.
For some OS' (Especially Linux IMO), yes. Right now the only way to boot into FreeBSD with GRUB is (IIRC) to chainload which is not an elegant solution (you don't even need to chainload with Windows anymore). In fact, before today, I've never seen anybody load FreeBSD with GRUB, it's peaked my interest ;p.

LILO (LInux LOader) is deprecated since long ago.
LILO is not deprecated. V24.0 is very recent and it's still the recommended bootloader for FreeBSD as far as I can tell.
