Installing PS1 games on 3.50?

From what I've read, the only way to get PS1 EBOOTs transferred to ARK under 3.50 is with SMOKE's PSPInstaller becasue of the PSP/GAME/ block, but before I try that I thought I should ask if there isn't a simpler way that I've missed?
