PS3 behaves stragely

Post by Rauliki » Sun Nov 02, 2014 7:40 am

My PS3 slim 320gb just shuts itsel when played. Sometimes it plays for hours, sometimes 15 minutes. Then it doesn't turn on. Sometimes I need to turn it on few times.
Is it sign of Ylod? Or is it too late?

It sounds like it is over heating, can you move the PS3 so it is on its own, upright (On it's side) and with clear air flow all around then give it a try and see if it does it again?

Regards.

If you're think you're capable of disassembling and putting it back together, i would recommend to change the thermal paste on both chips with some quality one (the stuff Sony used is pretty cheap and gets rockhard after a while).
While you have your PS3 disassemled, you can also free it from dust.

There are many tutorials on how to do this and if you take your time, sort and label all screws it is really not a big deal.
It will definitely expand the lifespan of your console!

There is thermal paste that dries under the IHS's also. This is usually the problem, 9/10 destroy chips when removing the IHS's so good luck.

Does it quit? If not, then it's legit... Too legit.
