Playing new games on low FW Rebug

Post by Daniel_Davies85 » Mon Aug 11, 2014 5:34 pm

Hey guys,

I can't find an answer to this anywhere but I apologise if its been asked before (probably multiple times).

I'm trying to play FFX HD but my PS3 has Renug 4.46 and the game is telling me to update to 4.53.

Obviously I don't want to update via Internet or I'll lose my CFW.

I have Multiman installed (though I don't know the half of what it can do) but I've read somewhere that MM can allow you to play higher FW Games... Is this true? If so, how do I do it?

If it's not, how do I get around this?

Thanks a bunch,
Dan.

I've never done this, but you can try spoofing the firmware in multiMan settings.

I'll give this a try tonight, thanks.

I feel I'm way out of my league with PS3 CFW's. I could look into updating it but there's a chance of me getting it wrong which is all I'm worried about.

What's the difficulty factor with updating rebug to 4.53, if it even exists?

I've tried googling it but there's just so much technical jargon that puts me off.

Cheers Smoke,
Dan.

There is a blog post I made that should be available in a few hours explaining this Rebug 4.53.1
I would stay tuned and read that first ;)

Read your blog post.

I'd probably give it a go if I thought I'd do it right but to be honest I just don't get all the CEX/DEX jargon.

I haven't had a chance to look into the spoof thing tonight so I'll give it a go tomorrow night when I've got more free time.

Thanks though.

No need to touch CEX2DEX just install and run as usual

I've never installed a PS3 CFW. Mine came with it pre installed and I haven't touched anything about it, just installed games and used it.

Any chance you could recommend a very straight forward, step by step guide on how to do it?

I don't think such a guide exists. It's just basically:

1. Place PS3UPDAT.PUP on a fat32 usb at x:/PS3/UPDATE/PS3UPDAT.PUP
2. I always install new CFWs in recovery heres how to get there Use #6
3. After that it should be finished

Can't seem to get this working.

Did as you said, downloaded the update, renamed it to "PS3UPDAT.PUP" (from PS3_REBUG_453_COBRA.PUP)

Put it into the appropriate files.

Entered recovery mode, selected update.

Put memory stick in. Hit start & select. It starts checking and waits for a while then starts updating.

It gets to, and the most I've managed to reach is 54%, a certain point and then just reverts back to the "no applicable data found. press start and select to update" screen.

And I can't for the life of me find anything about spoofing the system using multiman, neither on the program nor on the interweb.

I think ill just stick to playing on the Vita haha

Thanks for your help though.

Edit: managed to get to 58%.

It's in multimans options, Did you even look? Sometimes you need to stop looking online and find the answer yourself.
As for updating it just follow this but with the rebug pup.
