well first of all Google is your friend !, you will find all your questions answered if you ask on google, sometimes is even better to search than to ask because you're afraid to ask all the wrong questions on a forum and sound like a total @##$$#@ . but to answer your question sounds like you need to re-flow your board or at worst re ball it, but for both there are tons of tutorials everywhere, the re flow it is fairly easy with easy materials to find on the other hand the re ball if you have the money i suggest that you take it to somebody that knows what hes doing cause the level of difficulty and materials on this little project are very difficult and expensive. may i suggest craigslist for re ball people. please be patient and look around and familiarize yourself with all the tutorials and choose the one you want to do, i recomend reflow first but the bad thing about reflow is that it is only a temp solution as re ball is more of a permanent one.

you will have to reflow the cpu to fix your ps3, JUST the CPU

do not use the hair drier in a box ***, use a good quality heat gun on the motherboard and take your time and you will need a new tube of thermal compound

here is one of the best guides online

ps: you fixed what made it red light, but not what it did yet

dont heat the rsx, its not needed as it almost never messes up, and reflowing it just damages the connection it has, cpu should be the only thing stopping you, and remember that different thermal pastes have different break-in cycles, and arctic silver5 has 200Hours of 15/30min heat/cool cycles

here is a good article for saving your ps3 from the next rloDOOOOM!!!
and don't support the Google effect...its horrible as it is
and eating thrifty maid noodles because of it......seriously!?! off brand noodles.....ouch i got burned by tech support.....ouch........

I have fixed 3 x 6GB ps 3 with the red light issue by using our domestic oven. Basically I stripped the ps 3 down to the pcb (main board), removed the self adhesive pads from chips and anything else that may have suffered heat damage. I stood the pcb on a piece of foil and put it in our domestic oven, power pins pointing down. Turned the heat up to 150C. Once at temperature I left it there for 5 minutes to soak then raised it to 200C. Once at temperature I raised it to 225C. Let it stay at temperature for about 10 seconds then turned the oven off and let it cool down to room temperature and removed from the oven. The chips were warm to the touch still. After fully cooled down I rebuilt it and it worked fine.

most of the chip-set on the cecha01-b01 boards don't fear well to that kind of heat for that long, like the sata control chip, (it will stop booting with the hdd installed)
most of the board and chipset never hit 110F, only the rsx and cpu git any hotter,rsx-115-130f, and cpu 170-210F

rsx will shut the ps3 down at 160F, cpu doesn't shut the system down till it hits around 230F
lead-less solder starts breaking down at around 200F after about 3 years and 185F at about 4 years

as a side note, don't restore the system to factory till after thermal compound break in
till then make a new account on the system and set it to the auto log-in at start up
ive reflowed about 200 ps3's over the past few years
if it has a game-stop refurbish sticker on it , WALK AWAY FROM THE PS3, they rape these systems in the worst kind of ways......and seem to do so on purpose so you'll end up buying another one soon , like right after the 7 day return limit
