Any way of installing old patches to a PS3 on OFW?

Post by Casavult » Thu Apr 11, 2013 7:42 pm

Hello, community. :)

I was just wondering if there was a way to install patches to a PS3 on OFW?

I remember seeing a old thread about the PS Vita of a Charles Proxy/Fiddler solution for letting 2.02 access the PSN store. I was thinking maybe the same could be done for patches? Connecting Fiddler to the PS3 and storing the patch on a PC and changing the local path to my PC instead of the Sony servers to get the patch? Would it work?

I'm just asking because I haven't got time to test any theories at the moment but I should do tomorrow or the next day. I do own PS3's on CFW but I don't have access to them at the moment (well for a few weeks at least) so I would of just used them instead of asking here... :)

Oh, and the patch is for Skyrim (v2.08)... Bethesda removed the Oghma Infinium glitch (v2.09).

Any ideas? If nothing can be done then I'll just lock this afterwards.

Regards.

I just don't want to use this dang v2.09 patch. It has made my game actually a little worse at lagging, also the Oghma glitch. ;)

Not sure about bumping the topic a bit, but to answer your question, if your on OFW and you want to install a ***custom*** patch, the answer is no because the Package File is not authorized for Official use (this is because of the application launcher and pkg installer knowing its not signed properly).

If you are talking about install an official package file patch that was officially released by the game developers then yes you can. It will require you too have the actual pkg file to that official update so you can use Charles Proxy to redirect the download. It should then install and you should be running it properly :)
