How to install homebrew on TN-V 11

Post by reprep » Sun Apr 19, 2015 3:21 pm

It seems a lot of people are having problem with this so here i will explain what you have to do.

INSTALL ZIP Method: (Doesn't work on 3.50)

To prepare INSTALL.ZIP, first create a PSP folder, in it create a GAME folder, in it create a folder named with your homebrew name in CAPS, in it put the EBOOT.PBP of the homebrew you want. Then compress the PSP folder as zip with store compression option and name the compressed file as INSTALL.ZIP. You have to copy the INSTALL.ZIP to the TN-V's own savedata folder, not to the game savadata folder. In our example it is TNV_54321 folder. So the INSTALL.ZIP should be in TNV_54321 folder in QCMA's savedata folder. Also use QCMA to transfer your stuff, not CMA (Open CMA).

Here are some ready made INSTALL.ZIP files from SMOKE https://mega.co.nz/#F!NlYCQITY!MU9WnA7_V98tnJC8zUxWRA Go to PSVita, TNV, Apps section. Needed INSTALL.ZIP file is within the RAR files.

Convert Homebrew to ISO method:

Alternatively you can convert your homebrews to ISO and use them that way. For this, use EBOOT2ISO http://filetrip.net/psp-downloads/tools ... f7584.html to convert your EBOOT.PBP to iso file structure. After that, start UMDGEN, drag and drop the directory eboot2iso just created (PSP_GAME) and choose File> save as>uncompressed .ISO to create your ISO file. You can then transfer your ISO either via FTP to /ISO folder or name ıt as GAME.ISO and put it in TNV_54321 savedata folder and transfer via QCMA.
Also here are some pre-made ISO files if you need viewtopic.php?f=52&t=40943. I can't guarantee they will work though. The method to create ISO files i described above works well. Also if you want some screenshots, here is an italian guide. Pictures are demonstrative enough. http://gamesonic.it/forum/guide-psp-e-p ... svita.html Thanks @OrionGamesonic

VHBL Method:
You can also use VHBL for your homebrews. This way you shouldn't have problems saving your emu's configs, adding roms etc. Get the zip here https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B6I815 ... sp=sharing. Transfer the VHBL.ISO (put it in TNV_54321 folder) and VHBL01234 savedata folder (do not put it in TNV_54321 folder, put it into the folder where all your other PSP savedata files are, similar to how you put TNV_54321 folder while you setup TN-V11) to your Vita via QCMA (or FTP if you are confident enough.) Install the VHBL.ISO from within TN-V11 if you transferred it via the QCMA. After that you can install your homebrews via the usual INSTALL.ZIP method, but put INSTALL.ZIP file into the VHBL01234 savedata folder, transfer it to your vita and install it from within VHBL not TN-V11. You can prepare your own INSTALL.ZIP files or get the premade ones. Refer to the first part of this tutorial for that. VHBL uses ms0:/PSP/VHBL/ folder for homebrew access unless stated otherwise in HBLCONF.TXT. you can also transfer your homebrew to that folder via FTP. The VHBL was posted by qwikrazor87 in this thread, i just repackaged it and got rid of the patapon 2 save. viewtopic.php?f=53&t=41343

ONEMenu
Here is the ONEMenu created by gdljjrod . viewtopic.php?f=58&t=42430 It can help you run your homebrews and PS1 games. I would love to hear some feedback.

ByePass - POPS / HB Launcher for FW 3.50
ByPass is a POPS / HB Launcher for FW 3.50. It is developed by Rinnegatamante. viewtopic.php?f=56&t=42487 I would love to hear your experience with it.

Recovery Mod Option:
If you absolutely cannot use any of the methods above, this will let you run one homebrew. It can also be used to boot VitaFTP or PSP Filer to setup your stuff. Download the homebrew EBOOT.PBP you want, rename it to RECOVERY.PBP and put it in the save folder of TN-V11 (TNV_54321), transfer it to you Vita. After you boot TN-V11, press select and choose run /TNV_54321/RECOVERY.PBP Keep in mind that this isn't a real solution, it is just a temporary way to setup your stuff for using other methods and find a good way to install your homebrew.

Hope that solves your problems.

I'm attempting to recopy all of my homebrews back over using this method so they work with TN-V11, but I just get a BSOD as soon as I open the Memory Stick under GAME with INSTALL.ZIP present.

3.50 using Ape Escape, files sorted as INSTALL.ZIP/PSP/GAME/FTP/EBOOT.PBP and zip placed in TNV_54321 folder, transferred via QCMA. All plugins disabled.

unfortunately i can only test at 3.18 and it works fine in that. Though i heard the same thing from another user at 3.50. Can you please try the ISO method?

I tried homebrew ISOs for testing sake and they do work fine and are transferable via FTP.

@ruyor: Thanks a lot for the confirmation. I guess that is because we don't have write access to PSP/GAME in 3.50 so TN-V11 simply fails at installing homebrew. We should use ISOs then.

BTW did you try installing the homebrew ISO via savegame method or FTP or both?

Unfortunately both ARK and TN-V11 have 'fairly' big problems right now. TN-V11's psp filer/ftp can't write to PSP/GAME on 3.36 or 3.50... So I used ark's psp filer/ftp to manually install my homebrews in PSP/GAME (on 3.36). Ark on the other hand has the corrupted save issue on some ISOs.

Anyway I couldn't get the INSTALL.ZIP to show up, I tried packing it myself and a prepacked one. So I went with the manual install. ;)

@AbyssDwller: Does TN-V11 have PSP/GAME write issues even on 3.36?

Only via FTP. I have VitaFTP set up as RECOVERY.PBP in the save folder and run it via recovery menu.

Also, I'm pretty sure not having write access isn't the reason TN-V11 BSODs on 3.50. It BSODs as soon as it detects an INSTALL.ZIP, not while trying to copy it to PSP/GAME. Here's my BSOD text in case it helps anyone figure this issue out:
