I'm pretty sure I'd probably just drop dead from joy.
It'd suck, memory card-wise, though.
GoW and GoW II are both 9 gig games... I know there's dummy files and whatnot that can be gotten rid of, but with the cost of memory cards, PS2 Classics on Vita would be brutal.
I am sure that,if Sony did release ps2 classics for the Vita, they would be more optimised for the vita.
Imho,Vita could handle as far as Gamecube for sure.Yes,having portable gamecube would be nice.PS2 could work, but I think the games would need some kind of trimming and patching.

You try emulating PSX games on a PC with the same specs as the PSP and then revisit your reasoning again.
My crappy laptop can run Soul Calibur III nearly perfectly with a few tweaks on 1.x PCSX2 (crappy=integrated 105m gpu, intel core 2 duo 2.13ghz cpu,4 gb of ram ddr3,fugly assembly).I say nearly because yes,it is still slow, but not unplayable.

"Optimised"... I don't like that word, haha. That word makes me think of downsampling, and I'll tell you what: you downsample a single FMV in GoW, and I'll make sure no one I know buys that game.
They could easily trim the fat and compress everything (like they do now), but even if, games like God of War would still be close to (if not larger than) 4 GB.
But then again, there are some games (like the Disgaea series, which I freakin LOVE) where the game itself is relatively small, so they could probably get them to 2 GB or less (the first Disgaea can be trimmed to something around 750 MB or so).

Ya know what? Screw it.
Bring on the PS2 Classics.
Like now.

well it seems possible since they even had a few ps2 game for download in japanese store for a few hours/minutes,back then the vita was new.

mayhe they decided against a ps2 emu because the size of games, even for a 32gb mem card it could only have 5 ps2 games unless the ps2 games were all compressed then my faith would be restored in sony ............. a litte bit

I would say, expect this with the next firmware update if it is real, Sony probably hasn't released a fw update yet because they are working on another big update to get us to update and leave eCFW, like they did with Urbanix and PS+ ;)

I for one would surely update if this actually happened because I don't find myself using eCFW too much (I don't play any ISO's, I have some homebrew but that is it)

From what I have heard, the PS2 is closely related to the PSP, so if the Vita can emulate a PSP, it is quite possible that it can easily emulate a PS2 also for everyone who thinks that this isn't possible because PCSX2 doesn't run at full speed on pc's, don't forget that this Sony making the emulator, not a community of people who will never know as much about the PS2 as Sony does. Sony made the PS2 so it knows all about it's hardware and it could easily have it's army of programmers write an emulator which could run on the PSVita, homebrew PSP emulators for the PC don't go full speed or are very unstable but the emulator on the PSVita isn't.

As for storage, Sony could do anything, they really have a lot of things coming, (they have been more kind than usual lately) maybe they found a way to compress the games REALLY well by maybe allocating a bit more cpu power to the emulator to be able to read them faster (like ARK on ePSP)

Wow. You just rekindled my dwindling hope in seeing a PS2 emulator on the Vita. As for it being included in the next firmware, I guess it COULD but probably not because they would've announced it by now. Maybe in a few more firmware updates :)

Oh, and yea, I don't really use eCFW much at all now, except for playing some of my PS1 games. But that experienced is also a little hindered, as it's without sound :(

I found out that i want to play psp games in the original resolution more than on ps vita. ;) And for some games like patapon, the buttons of psvita is a little small for me, I want the big big button of psp.

If ever PS2 can be emulated on PS Vita, I'm sure the game library of PS 2 will boost PS Vita selling to the max. I long for the time to play Shadow of Colossus on Vita.

If that ever happens, I really hope wololo will NOT release a custom firmware for PS Vita soon, which may have the PS2 emulator in it.... which in turn will give many ppl chance to pirate games, and kill the Vita :D

Well, if you're expecting a native CFW for the Vita any time soon, then you're probably not gonna get it from Wololo, but rather from previous CFW developers. And yea, I prefer the PSP's native rez for some games (ie: KH BBS) rather than them being upscaled to the Vita's rez. As for the X, [], O, ^ buttons, I seem to prefer the Vita's for some reason.

Now, as for a PS2 emulator for the Vita, you gotta remember that the first FUNCTIONAL PS1 emulator for the PSP (POPS) was released by Sony, not by the homebrew community (not taking into account Yoshihiro's PSX-P Alpha build). I say that because Yoshihiro's PS1 emulator didn't exactly work that well, and since the PS2 is even a more-difficult console to emulate due to its GS, we're not gonna get far with it if it's made by a non-Sony dev. We might as well wait for Sony's emulator.

A PS2 emulator for the Vita would be huge. Didn't Sony issue a call for engineers familiar with the PS2's architecture a while ago? Here's hoping it wasn't related to the PS4.

Well you actually can play shadow of the colossus on your vita, if you have the hd collection for ps3
