Is PRO online possible on CFE?

Post by xian183 » Thu Oct 04, 2012 1:59 am

Well, i have no idea if this is even close to being possible, and im sorry if i sound like a newb, but i just had this random thought, and i was wondering if
PRO online could be ported to this new emu-cfw we've got? Once again, this is just a crazy thought, so please dont shoot me if ive broken some "code" of the forum

EDIT: I just read (< shocker) that pro online needs (at the very least) more ram than the psp 1000 has, which if im not mistaken, is whats emulated on the vita, so this is pretty unlikely to ever happen, you can lock this now

As far as I remember PRO online's features was ported to operate on fats (a.k.a on the 32mb RAM) due to the very hard wor of Coldbird. Wololo then said that this can be ported to let VHBL operate better so this is compatible with Vita and yes in theory it should be possible. The problem is who is that someone that would port it. It can be Coldbird for obvious reasons so someone should really dig up the Pro online code and see how it works before implements it in TN's CFWe. But that's not a priority now. I guess it's way more important to fix all the glitches of the CFWe in first place, to equip it with such things as PSX emulation and than when we have a stable CFW which can be used to think of PRO online feature
But generally yes sounds possible to me
Edit : I just saw your edit and as i said there are ways (a way actually developed by Coldbird) to overcome this issue

Hmm, well thanks for the reply, if not id be left in the dark. Im really surprised that it may be possible, albeit not without much hard work, and coldbird would probably be the one that would have to do that, although he may come back now that the heat is off his exploit and onto total noob's. but yes, i do agree that updating the e-cfw (or w/e else you wanna call it) for bug fixes, ps1 support, and maybe a nicer looking menu is a much larger priority atm, but i look forward to maybe seeing this in the future as It would be way cool to have our own network with servers for all of us with cfe vitas, that way we really could give sony the finger and never really need to update :P
