How to get your Homebrew / ISO's on the Vita eCFW

Post by MikeBeav3r » Wed Oct 03, 2012 10:50 pm

How I got stuff on to my PS Vita using Total_Noob's Urbanix Exploit……..

It's not like a proper tut, but might help someone out :p

This may help some people, as I have been reading different parts of differing threads all day to get this right :-)

First of all I transferred the save file provided by Total_Noob :- http://www.mediafire.com/?00h2b5kfkrc7c99 to the"My Documents/PS Vita/PSAVEDATA/760df631blah blah" folder

I now had a save file in there called "NPEZ00176" this is the replacement save file for Urbanix, containing al the required files to run the exploit on the vita.

next up I opened it and created the following folders so it looked like this:-

"My Documents/PS Vita/PSAVEDATA/760fdblah blah/NPEZ00176/PSP/GAME"

In the "GAME" folder I made some more folders "WAGIC" "GPSP" "SNES" and "PSPFILER"
All of these folder are named unto 8 letters long and MUST be in CAPITAL LETTERS.

inside each of these folders I deposited the corresponding emulators and files I had been previously using oh VHBL MHFU 1.80, for an example the PSP Filer 6.6 d/l I got had 2 files in it, EBOOT.PBP and warning.txt, I put them both into the "PSPFILER" folder, for Wagic, I opened the magic.zip file, opened the WTH folder and put the "Res folder, EBOOT.PBP and exceptions.prx" files into the "WAGIC" folder (you can see a pattern here I am sure :p).

I went back to "My Documents/PS Vita/PSAVEDATA/760fd blah blah/NPEZ00176" right clicked on the "PSP" folder containing all my files and selected "Add to Archive" from the list of options I was given (I use Winrar, so this may be different in other compression programs).

Once Winrar had opened, I clicked on .ZIP instead of .RAR, I altered the name of the file to PSP.ZIP (as it puts the .zip in lower case, we need it to be in upper case ) I selected the "store" method of compression and hit OK, it created a nice PSP.ZIP for me in the NPEZ00176 folder.

Next I wanted to transfer over my Loco Roco file from my PSP Go, I copied the .ISO file off the PSP into "My Documents/PS Vita/PSAVEDATA/760fdblah blah/NPEZ00176 and called it LOCOROCO.ISO (again, from what I understand, it can be no longer than 8 letters long and must all be in CAPITAL LETTERS).

I fired up the PS Vita and open CMA on the laptop, clicked on "PC to PS Vita transfer" then "applications" scrolled down to "Saved data" and went to the "PSP™/Other" option and clicked on the "Urbanix" save file, then copied it to the PS Vita.

Once the file had finished copying I disconnected the PC (as I don't need it anymore for this).
Went back to the live area on PSV and started up Ubanix.

The game loads, the usual splash screens come up and then I am told "The game saves automatically etc" on a grey screen, I press "O" to go back, I am then asked if I wish to load the save file, I click "YES", am greater with "Load Complete" followed by a White screen, a few seconds later a black screen and a few more seconds and I can see my MHFU, Urbanix and jewel Keeper, there is also another file (depends on which folder is top in your PSP.ZIP file I think) I clicked "X" on this and was asked if I wanted to extract it, which I do so.

Once it has finished doing it's thing, I have a screen with loads of things on it, PSP Filer, gPSP, Wagic etc etc.

head straight for PSP Filer, using the directional pad go to the folder "/" and press "X" the "L" to create a new folder, when the screen appears, call it "ISO" and press the return key on the onscreen keyboard to go back out of the naming utility.

Back in PSP Filer, navigate to the "PSP/GAME/SAVEDATA/NPEZ00176/" folder by pressing "O" on each folder until you get there, once there I found my "LOCOROCO.ISO" file and pressed "X" to bring up the menu again, pressing "O" again gives the option to move the file to another location, we want to select the ISO folder and then press "SQUARE" to move it to this location.

Exit PSP Filer and you should now see the game moved across and ready to play.
Clicking any of the new icons should start up the program or game.

Hope this helps someone / anyone, it is a little incoherent as I haven't written a tut or similar in a long time.

I don't consider myself bad at this sort of thing, but I'm having a little trouble.

I've got a PSP.zip, which inside contains \PSP\GAME\PSPFILER\EBOOT.PBP. Now this is in the NPEZ00176 folder, which I then copy to the Vita successfully.

When I load Urbanix, I get the load, which then completes, flashes white, black, then comes up with the menu. However, all I can see are my games, which are Patapon 3, 2 minis, Corpse Party, Half Minute Hero and Crash Bandicoot.

All I can do is move around and either delete things or play Crash Bandicoot. Which obviously doesn't work.

no idea mate, I got my d/l on the PSP at around 24 hours ago, then when I got up this morning, I had the option to update to 1.81 and d/l it on my Vita, luckily I did it when I did, as about an hour later it had been removed.

I would have thought the PS3 version and the PSP / Vita versions would all be the same, but because it has been removed from all the PSN storefronts now, the system will not allow you to transfer it.

This might might not all be correct, but thats how I have interpreted the info I have been picking up today.

Instead of PSP.zip it MUST be PSP.ZIP all CAPS, you dont have to name it PSP it could be PSPFILER.ZIP
Make shure its all caps

edit: seeing the PSP games you have is normal

Aha, this is likely the problem. I shall attempt this.

And max 8 letters PSPFILER.ZIP would be in the limit for example
