PSVita Expansion Port

Hi there guys!
Long, LONG time lurker, very little posts on this sweet forum!

Now that Yifan and katsu have hacked some of the Vita's internals, does anyone here knows what can be done with that infamous expansion port that is right next the game card slot?

Things like, "where does it map to?", "does it ends at the CPU?", "does it have a separated processor?", "can we... output video through it?", "what can we send through?", "is it read only or writable?", "voltages?", "does it work like a USB port?", "how fast is it?"

Those are some questions that I thought about.
Since I have zero hardware experience (tried soldering once, got all fingers burned, the contacts burned and nothing worked... yeah...) and I know near nothing about low level programming, I'm leaving my questions here.

Hope someone find it interesting and investigate it for us at /talk! :D
It is a very accessible port for users, and Sony says nothing about it, not even announcing any hardware to be connected there.

So, thank you for your time to answer these questions.
And thank you all for investigating the Vita hardware works!

I don't know all about it, but I can answer some of your questions:
"where does it map to?" Three pins on the SoC CPU
"does it have a separated processor?" No
"can we... output video through it?" Qualified no. It seems like a general purpose port, and I could not find any continually between and known video outputs and any of the pins on the connector. However, if it's general purpose, a software update/feature could support outputting video.
"what can we send through?" I don't have any evidence except how it's laid out on the Vita vs. what I see on the VitaTV. I believe it's USB/USBOTG
"is it read only or writable?" It should be bi-directional
"voltages?" I haven't checked. It should be easy to do though. And you can easily confirm it's NOT USB if the voltages differ from specs.
"does it work like a USB port?" That's my guess
"how fast is it?" Hard to tell until something that interfaces with it is released

I don't think anything will be released for it. Isn't it missing from the slim Vita?

The PS2 Slim didn't have a HDD bay but that didn't stop devs from making use of the HDD(tho it was mainly in Japan and I think only FFXI required it)
