Technically that's a possible "downgrade", but you have to open your Vita and solder any capable SD-Card Reader to the eMMC connections on the board. As long as you don't break anything during this process and you also have a dumped NAND from a previous firmware version you CAN downgrade your Vita.

In my opinion this is far away from being practical, you could more easily buy a new Vita with old firmware somewhere I guess

Very cool, congrats!

psvita 2.fw opening 10minute very slow reading

Thank you yifan lu for all information :)
Good work Katsu!

I have a few questions for Katsu or anyone who would know the answer, you don't mind me asking.

1) If access to the Vita memory card was ever achieved, does the Vita hardware allow for a NAND dump be loaded or dumped from/to the memory card with minimal/no hardware modifications?

2) Do you know the reason behind the slow read? Would a higher class memory stick make a difference in read time?

3) By successfully loading a lower FW, would this indicate the Vita does NOT have eFuses blown during the upgrade process like other consoles such as the 360? And if so, would the lack of eFuses imply a downgrade on the NAND itself *technically* possible?

If you read Yifan's lu blog, you can see that the SD card MUST be in 1bit mode, wich is really slow, so the SD card class isn't the reason

That being said, it seems the class also impacts the speed in 1bit

It doesn't have to be. It's just easiest to solder. You can do 4 bit or 8 bit if you want.
