Update system software, System software is up to date

I've read a half dozen tutorials on how to use Charles to serve a local, edited version of psp2-updatelist.xml to my Vita in order to get onto the PSN with an older firmware (1.67). It seems to partially work--now when I try to update system software, it tells me:
The latest version of the system software is already installed (C3-12049-6)

But when I attempt to login to the PlayStation Store, it says:
You must update the system software

Is my XML file wrong? Some tutorials say I need to add a query string in Charles that says

, but others leave out that step. I've tried doing it and hitting execute, but it doesn't seem to "stick" (ie, the next time I try to login, it doesn't appear to append the query string in Charles.) Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

You cant access the store from 1.67

You can use charles with firmware 2.61, though.

They fixed the lower firmwares from time to time. 2.12 and 2.60 got fixed a few weeks ago.

Ah, thanks! Do you recommend 2.61 specifically, or is there another firmware that's better in some way? And does anyone know if this tutorial is still the best way to upgrade to a specific firmware? http://wololo.net/2012/12/14/how-to-upg ... -e-g-1-81/

Since you are BELOW 2.02, I would recommend to update to firmware 2.02 and Install the eCFW TN-V2 (Install V1, then update to V2).

OK, I'll give it a try. I seem to remember reading that the latest exploit (FieldRunners) is the best one to use because it's very fast, and opens up more RAM. Is that true? Or are there compatibility issues that make it less useful than the UNO exploit? I've got a PS3, so shouldn't have a problem getting it to my PS Vita (assuming I download it to the PS3, then use the Vita's Content Manager to transfer it).

Also, would I be able to access the store from 2.02 (using Charles)? Not a big deal if I can't, but it'd be nice to have the best of both worlds (homebrew and access to the store).

I was unable to transfer it from PS3 (doesn't show up in Content Manager) on 1.81, and someone else said it couldn't be transferred on their 2.61 Vita. So it may not be possible.

Fieldrunners will not open up the extra RAM. What allows people to use the extra RAM is if they are using any game exploit on firmware 2.12 and below. The ideal exploit would be to have a Vita on 2.12 and use Field Runners to load the upcoming TN firmware. If you are already past firmware 2.12 then there is no method of accessing the extra ram at this time.
