Hi everyone,
I just purchased a second vita so that I can keep up to date with the firmware versions and access the psn store while keeping my original ps vita nice and hacked on firmware 2.02. Recently, I was notified that the youtube application has been updated with the ability to run in the background just like the browser can. I would like to get this new version of the youtube app on my hacked vita but each time I ask the app to update it says that I need to update my firmware version.
This got me thinking. What if I simply transfer my the youtube app on my non-hacked up-to-date ps vita to my computer. I will then delete the youtube app on my hacked vita, hook it up to my computer and transfer the app from my computer onto my hacked vita. Any idea if this will work? I hope my message is not too confusing. thoughts from other people would be welcome...

First of all the ps vita is not hacked and I don't think you can transfer the Youtube app. The app is fine so don't worry about the update. Lol

I don't think you understand the orignal intent of my post; Perhaps I didn't explain myself well enough. I am aware that only the psp emulator in the ps vita has been hacked. As mentioned in my original post. I have a ps vita on FW 2.02 running the UNO exploit which means that I have a ecfw in the psp emulator on the ps vita. Because I want to keep my exploit I do not want to update to the latest official firmware. However, I wish to have the latest YouTube version that came out recently but if I want to download the update, it prompts me to update my entire FW. I hope that is clear.
I have thought of a way around it though but I am not sure it will work. Since I have two ps vitas, I was wondering if I can use my ps vita on FW 2.11 (which uses the same account as my other Vita) to download the updated version of the YouTube app. I can then transfer it to my computer via Open CMA. I will then take my ps vita with the Uno exploit and delete my Youtube app on it. I will then hook it up to my pc and transfer the latest version of the YouTube app to it via Open CMA. I was wondering if that would work. Could it be that the YouTube app does not check which FW version I am running on my vita? Anyone has an answer for me?

Yes I know I'm on 2.02 with UNO too. There isn't any other way to get the updated version of Youtube other then updating the vita system. The new update is nothing important anyways as I sort of mentioned. Even if it was possible to transfer it over it will still ask to update.

are you sure? it's just an application. if both Vitas use the same PSN account (and activated!), one will be able to transfer to another through PC or PS3.
the problem is however with newer games which require a higher firmware themselves. I'm not sure about the apps. it could be that apps do not do their own check for firmware, but I can be wrong, it's up to you to try.

If you transfer an app from your first Vita to your PC, then from the PC to the second Vita, it will work, as long as both Vitas are activated on the same PSN account.
BTW you could have updated your old Vita to 2.11 & got a PSP which could be hacked & could be nicer than your 'hacked' Vita.

Well I tried to install UNO from a 2.02 vita to another one on 1.81 via two different open cma's. (1.81 cma not compatible with 2.02). While UNO did transfer, I think it told me I needed to update when I launched it. Tried to move that .rif file with adhoc file transfer to see if that would fix it and it can't be moved. (WTF?). So I'm not so sure that what you said works.

But he's on 2 new firmwares, 2.02 & 2.11, & also he's transferring an app. Plus, copying to 2.11 is the easiest as it doesn't require Open CMA, just normal CMA.

true but I got the new vita for $149.99 Cdn at Best buy (it was the madden bundle) so it was definitely worth it.

I'm not sure the firmware version is relevant. I just don't think it's possible to use apps/games from a vita on a higher firmware version on another vita on a lower version. At least that was my experience. It results with an update prompt. I hope I'm wrong though.
