3.51 VHBL issues

Post by RikuKurai » Thu Jul 02, 2015 7:25 am

I'm having several issues with installed homebrews.

SNES9x gets stuck telling me it can't load a folder. It's either frozen or not accepting input.
Picodrive crashes when I go into the menu to load a game.
gPSP gives me a font initialization error.
Some other homebrews simply show a black screen.

Having never used VHBL before today, I know nothing of how to fix these things. Any help would be appreciated.

There are special versions of these apps that are made specifically with the various usermode limitations of VHBL and HBL in mind.

Having difficulty packaging the install.zip files needed to install homebrews. I package them, but QCMA isn't succeeding in transfering them to the Vita. It tries, though.

Place them in the save data folder for the exploit.

Set the files up like so: INSTALL.ZIP\PSP\GAME\HOMEBREWNAME\
Please keep in mind that capitalized letters are a MUST.

Only for the zip, anything in it can be whatever you want.

I've tried a few different versions of gpSP. The one I had on my PSP, as well as the one on SMOKEs old list, give font init errors. The version in Clyde's link tries to load as it should, but gets stuck with no font and half the load bar filled. Pressing a button crashes it and sends me back to VHBL.

Here is what my directory looks like

I'm already using that one. I did find something out though: The .ZIP part of INSTALL.ZIP needs to be caps, it needs to be set to store, and the instructions you've given apply to TN-V.

Since it's mainly GBA games I'd like to emulate, a link or something like that which leads to a version of gpsp, gpsp Kai or gpsp J that works properly on 3.51 VHBL would be great. Or even better, an actual reason I get the font init failed error on normal gpsp, and gpsp J doesn't want to load a game. Doesn't crash, just says "Cannot Load Game"

Well, looks like it doesn't work. The only thing I've gotten working 100% on this thing is DOOM.

EDIT: I've noticed system-wide performance degredation. As if theres a...memory leak. Even after I peel away the Toukiden game.
