I did click the "download in background" button, could this have been what caused such an issue?

It shouldn't. That's what I did!

Delete the game from the Vita, and watch the transfer very carefully. It updates real fast. If it wasn't for my only camera being a PS3 Eye Cam, I'd record the process in it's entirety.

Two questions:
Am I watching the transfer on the PS3 or the PS Vita?
Do I have to delete the install bubble on the PS3 and re-download the demo from the PSN?

Delete the bubble on the Vita only. The PS3 can't update PSP games until they get transfered. Watch the transfer on the Vita's screen, the PS3 shows...well...nothing.

It is possible, but you'd have to deactivate and reactivate the system to switch accounts, and that requires either the PS3+QCMA trick or updating your system.

So the only way to keep my account, the download list and my games is if I find a working proxy and dl from the jp store?
