This question has been churning inside for at least a week now... PS Vita 2.61 VHBL can be run via a game that is also available on Japanese PSN. This implies it is compatible with a Japanese PS Vita, which is great.

Here's where the confusion begins:

Download page for previous VHBL exploits instructs the user to select the version that matches the region of the handheld.

Here's what I want to know:

Can I download the game from the US PSN and run the 2.61 exploit on my Japanese handheld?

I cannot easily add money to my Japanese PSN account (takes a few days to a week, with assistance from international friends). For this reason I would prefer to purchase my exploitable game from the US PSN if at all possible.

EDIT: Photo of PS Vita in question for legitimacy purposes. Model PCH-1100 (JPN; WiFi + SIM).

Exploits are not limited to regional devices, but to regional versions of the PSN Store.

Japanese Vita + EU Exploit game -> works.
European Vita + EU Exploit game -> works.

A PS Vita from the Moon (ikr) + EU Exploit game -> works.

Its the game, that determines if its exploitable, not the SKUs (the devices) region.

We just imported it. It seems to be called PS Vita 2000. Not that good.

The real shocker was how Sony started using CRT for the Vita 3k, some called it financial suicide while others exclaimed at how much better it is 0__0

Lol! Okay, excellent. Thank you for clearing that up. :)

I had purchased this PSV of mine 3 weeks ago in Japan, then a week ago I saw a commercial for the new PSV. I was upset I didn't wait... until I saw the screen comparisons. ;p
