no need to risk buying a card for nothing / have a too small amount on the psn card that way

ever since the psn hack people are afraid to put their information on the psn. Also if they are using a foreign account then they need to use point cards.

heh we dont want issues I guess and dont want to equip an american card. I assumed it wouldnt work from what I heard about someone elses experience.

I don't know for everyone else, but for me it was that you need to have a credit card in the same region as your account. I tried setting the billing info for the card to my US billing address and the UK PSN refused to add credit with some server error message.

I'd have preferred buying a psn card too, but forgot to buy it while buying my vita xD
I got home and ohh no I forgot to get a psn card ^^'
but I erased my credit card informations from psn then so it should be alright I hope ^^

I confirm, the only way to buy on a store if you don't have an actual credit card from that country, is to use a psn card. They don't only check the billing address, but also where the credit card comes from.

Go tell that to hundreds of years of protectionism... Companies like Sony love globalization when it means they can produce their devices for cheap in China... they like it less when it means their customers should get lower prices independently of the country they live in. Ever wondered why you pay a different price for your games, music, movies, and your consoles depending on the country you live in? And yet, it doesn't cost Sony a different price to produce...

This is what I like to call the "one way globalization"... a win win situation for Sony, they lower their costs, but don't lower the price you pay, by maintaining artificial regional barriers. Oh, and they'll always try to justify this with regional contracts with partners, local regulations, etc...
