i ask this as im going on vacation and wont have a computer but will still have my vita, so i just wanna make sure i can do everything i can to be able to play homebrew if it happens to get released when im on vaca.
vhbl question.
vhbl question.
not asking when it will be released.....but when its is released, as long as i d/l the game before sony takes it off psn and/or patches it, all i have to do is d/l to my vita and not update my vita either to be able to use vhbl, right?

Re: vhbl question.
Correct. Once you have the game, you're good to go.

Re: vhbl question.
Snatch the game, disable WiFi on your Vita once you got it, then use OpenCMA so that Sony can't update your system through CMA... then yes - you are good to go.rog wrote:Correct. Once you have the game, you're good to go.

Re: vhbl question.
coldbird +1.
Basically, if either CMA or your Vita gets information about a possible firmware update, then there's a high risk of not being able to go back. It is important to stay "disconnected" until we learn more about the update and how to avoid it if possible. openCMA is a good tool to avoid a forced update, but after all it could still fail at some point.
The ideal situation is to have a PC that is constantly disconnected from the net, running openCMA, + your vita in "plane" mode.
It's a pain, I know

If you need US PSN Codes, this technique is what I recommend.

Re: vhbl question.
if i have cma not actively running and just disconnect my pc when i get home from the net and then run opencma/cma, would that suffice?
also when you d/l cma....does it automatically know which version the vita should be on? or can i d/l it and then cut the net and install it?
eitherway i have to leave my computer on incase i forget/need something while im on my vacation >.<

That I'm not entirely sure... Virtuous Flame would have the answer. I do have an old version of CMA somewhere for that purpose, but not sure if the installation process itself actually downloads the latest version first.also when you d/l cma....does it automatically know which version the vita should be on? or can i d/l it and then cut the net and install it?

Re: vhbl question.
Just a couple of observations and suggestions that may be useful:
- I have seen the PSV activate the wifi (wifi symbol visible) even with airplane mode on.
This is probably a bug (fw=1.61) but just in case: Disable wifi also, don't trust airplane mode with your life.
- Be paranoid - remove access for your vita to internet completely (block mac address in adsl router for instance)
I actually miss the physical wifi switch of the PSP...
- Make a complete backup of the vita when game + vhbl is installed (with opencma)
- Also make a copy of the game directly after download (again witn opencma). That way you can (hopefully)
copy the original version back to the vita if it's patched by some unforeseen method. This also makes it possible
to copy games downloaded from PSN to a second Vita if it's registered to the same PSN/SEN account without
having to have anything connected to Internet, which can be very handy.
- Use opencma in a VM with no network access after opencma is up and running, ever! (Until more is known about
what countersteps are being taken). Do a snapshot of the VM first if you have to update something for whatever
reason.
- Again, be paranoid

Re: vhbl question.
Question: Are all crashes saved to a log file and that file´s sent to Sony whenever possible (as soon as the Vita connects to the net, no matter if 3G/Wlan/PC/PS3) or is a special app required, f.e. like "Near" oder even Sony CMA ?
Then I ask myself, how is it possible to transfer the homebrew apps to the Vita to use them with the VHBL ?
