How far along is the Vita hacking scene?

Post by alexg1989 » Tue Aug 23, 2016 7:28 pm

I might be getting a vita within the next 2 weeks.

I know about the PSP emu and stuff like that but I mean the native Vita hacks.

Are there any custom firmwares, emulators, homebrews, vita backups that can run on the native Vita?

no cfw until henkaku source is released.
no vita backup until someone finds a way to do it or henkaku source is released

retroarch does support vita with henkaku (do not expect every core is working even if there s a build)

Expect CFW in the future. HENkaku is always progressing rapidly.
It won't take too long now.

I've seen a lot more rumbling about Henkaku over at Gamefaqs lately. Some are saying it's the end of the Vita. Are there new developments since I last posted?

Has the Henkaku src release?

Thanks for the replies so far

Currently, only a part of HENkaku source has been released. Yufanlu, the HENkaku main developer, wishes that the community understands by itself how HENkaku works before releasing it (to find a smart successor for the project).
HENkaku alone doesn't allow piracy. It "only" gives a kernel access to the Vita (with great power comes great responsability :) ).

However, a project named "Vitamin" has been released. This project allows to remove all protections from a game and copy/install it on any Vita. The current release is only comptatible with about 50% of the games. But maybe a new release with more compatibility will come. You can follow the project here:

For the moment, this project source stays secret and there is no plan from the developer to release it.

Unlike Gamefaqs users say, I would say it has resurected the Vita because it allows game modding and plugins ;) .
