Breaking News: PS1 games on the PS Vita possible !

Postby The Z » Tue May 15, 2012 10:28 pm

With the launch of the PS Vita it was possible to run PS Vita and PSP (PSN) games on the new device, but unfortunally wasnt it able to run PS1 games. With an update of the firmware Sony added the ability to run PSP/PS3 MiniS, which increased the number of playable games on the PS Vita. But there is still one problem, its still not possible to run PS1 games on the PS Vita.

The anonymous Developer, known through the PSP Emulator flash0 dump, strikes back with his newest work, the ability to run PS1 games on the PS Vita. With the help of a SaveGame exploit and a kernel mode vulnerability for the PSP Emulator he made it possible to run PS1 games. Unfortunally the sound is not working yet, but he's working on it, so very soon it will be possible to have full support for the PS1 games on the PS Vita. At the moment it is possible to play these games without laggs or freezes, the missing sound is the only problem which is left.

The Developer doesnt want to share his full work (yet), but he will share the code for the POPS when he fixed every bug which occures at the moment, e.g. the missing sound. When he shares his code with other developers, it will be possible for them to port the code to their psp emu kernel mode exploits for getting the PS1 games to work.

Even if he shares his code, without a public kxploit for the psp emu its not possible to run PS1 games.

P.S. check the last 2 tags of the youtube video

Last time I checked no one else had a "psp emu kernel mode exploit" besides one other person.
Wait a second...
Wasn't the last release to make us as cool as that person?

Still not as cool.

I made my first kernel raw reverse on sceNetAdhocPtpRecv, http://pastebin.com/TSAcypW7 but I guess I'll need much more time before anything possibly exploitable xD
It really looks so much time consuming for kxploits :S

After hearing this news this will make Sony look like idiots just because the community/devs need to step in and take matter in to their own hands to get ps1 on Vita. Sony is always to slow or lazy to get anything done besides stopping exploit, that is the only they do now a days, patched ultimate marvel vs capcom 3 due to alternate costume glitch yet they don't fix the glitches in the game such greedy company always forcing us to buy dlc and crap. Hopefully PS Vita will be hack for psp iso and such tried of Sony lazy ass excuses blaming piracy for poor sales numbers.

I hope he's testing different PS1 games, because some have a separate audiotrack (CDDA) and those games always had problems playing music/sound.
When you convert those games in another format (.PBP) you have to somehow include that 2nd track.
For the PSP there was a fixed popsconverter released that added the CDDA audio data at the right position, so music/sound played correct.
In any case great development!
