Soul Sacrifice and the PSTV in North America

Post by atreyu187 » Sat May 30, 2015 6:35 am

So I have a PSTV and I really wanna play this game. One of the sole reasons I bought the system. Well only the "Delta" variant works for PSTV I have found out. Now downloading from PSN/SEN isn't an option for me as I have a 2gb metered plan a month. I can't add data but get capped at 17 KB/s and resuming over and over is gonna be painful.

So I have contemplated buying the physical cartridge from Japan. if I do so would it be compatible with a North American PlayStation TV or would I simply be wasting my money just wait and bear the super long agony to grab theas all of the work outside of I have been very happy with just the PlayStation TV as all of the work outside of one.

Has anyone done this or can give me any insight? I really want to play the game in my native tongue which is English of course and I would much rather deal with trying to download then to try to understand a fantastic game in a language I don't understand.

While I really want this game buying a Vita is out of the question as I hate portable gaming TBH 100%. These forums have been helpful from time to time but in all honesty the PSTV is very vague to say the least. I got this system for this and a few other games. And as of late it has felt like a wasted purchase dye to Sony's lack of support.

This forum is why I ditched my PSP Go and got the PSTV and I'm hoping someone here can help me and give me a 100% for sure on what I should do as the game is a must have IMO.

So the NTSC-J version will not run on my NA PSTV as-is?

Assuming that SSD is made PSTV-compatible either by Sony or by someone else, and you absolutely want to have a physical release:
The game is available in NA and EU exclusively on the PSN store for download. A physical release in English was released in Hong Kong.
http://soulsacrifice.wikia.com/wiki/Sou ... fice_Delta

This will lock you out of DLC and online play unless you use HK PSN account. While games themselves are not region-locked on Vita, DLC (online passes included) is.
Don't you have an internet cafe somewhere nearby? If PSTV supports transfers from PS3, you could download the .pkg in question there and transfer it the same way people install PSM on outdated Vita.

By the way, as an owner of both SS and SSD, I'd highly recommend getting it in a language you can understand. The story is just too good to skip it.

HK release looks like http://www.play-asia.com/soul-sacrifice ... /13/707qyx for example.

I have found a copy that is said to have English. Just trying to make sure it will work before I drop $65 on it and can't play. I also don't have any internet cafes nearby. I live basically where most come to retire with a lot of money. Not many folks can afford to live here that aren't sickenly wealthy.

Still can't guarantee 100% compatibility, but unofficial PS TV compatibility list does have NA digital version:

On another hand, official one doesn't, but it's known to be incomplete:

Also worth to know:
Soul Sacrifice Delta's Asian English physical release (i.e. VCAS-34065) is identical to the European digital release, in that it can use saves from the European digital release, it can use the European network pass, it can use the European JP voice DLC, and it offers to delete the European digital game data when you insert the cartridge while keeping saves and DLC for use with it. It also has "Published by Sony Computer Entertainment Europe" on the title screen. Source is my own experience. Most likely SCEJA's Southeast Asian team just had SCEE send over a copy of their release, burned it to cartridges, and called it an Asian English version. I can only hope the same will apply for Oreshika.
