Sony: Vita and PS TV are "legacy devices" outside of Japan

Speaking at Sony's 2015 Investor Relations Day, Sony Computer Entertainment's President and Global CEO, Andrew House, called the PlayStation Vita a "legacy platform". Furthermore, Sony's handheld is not part of the company's strategy for fiscal year 2015.
What does this mean for the Vita to be labelled as a "legacy platform"? Basically, expect to see no more major commitments to it as far as major support and investments go outside of Japan and Asia.
So Vita is officially dead to Sony outside of Japan. I hope the hackers can blow the thing wide open. There's no reason not to now.

Meanwhile, bigger titles from Japan will continue to see overseas releases. Sen no Kiseki, Atelier Escha & Logy Plus, Danganronpa: Another Episode and Persona 4: Dancing all Night are four likely or confirmed candidates.
I'm okay with this. Western indies can go position themselves on PS4 for all I care. I'll miss physical releases though.

Because they already planning for its successor, PSP3. It will follow PS4 success.
Nintendo got the gist of it and panicked, thus unveiled "NX" in the process.
See, Nintendo collaboration with DeNA has nothing to do with NX, but they unveiled NX right there... fishy right? lol
Sony will come out with big bang surprise at TGS, just like how they've done it at 2013 E3.
They will finally do the right things, they learned past screw ups from Vita.
Recent shortage of game releases for 3DS and Vita from Japanese companies might suggests it, right, 3rd parties are working on PSP3 games.
PSP3 will have Monster Hunter 5 exclusive = instant 3 million install base in Japan.
At least 10x power of Vita. It might be 100% backward compatible with Vita.

@GonnaGetPSVita : I don't think PSP3 will happen. I would love to be proven wrong though.

Ok, let's wait for it :)
It's actually perfect chance for Sony to finish off Nintendo.

... You do realize nintendo have more spare money than sony could ever dream of getting from all their sections combined, right? The real-world probability of N* going bust is close to none.
There were some real statistics a while ago that concluded that it would take over 20 years of "WiiU"-sales for N* to go bust, while sony is on the verge of bankruptcy as it is.

So to summarize, N* have 20years of flops left, sony have none. One more fail from sony and thats that.

The only way N* will go out of buisiness is when they say "fck it" and quit voluntarily and live the rest of their lives as kings.

I believe Psp 3 might happen. No psp would leave a market hole for sony in japan, which ps4 in handheld oriented japan simply cant fill. Also though ps vita sales in japan compared to psp are terrible it still managed to sell almost 4 mil acording to mcs. as for abandoning ps vita, as customer i feel deceived and my trust in sony is damaged. it was sony and sony alone that caused vita to fail. i am not sure if psp3 can replicate success of psp. it seems now that the only way to save ps vita is hopefully looming healthy homebrew comunity. also there is still hope that translations of japanese games will be released in west and in japan games will continue to be released...

I spent $300 on my Vita and now it's legacy. Goodbye Sony. This too is why I won't buy PS4, or any console. It's a bad investment.

#TeamNvidiaShield

I am enjoying Vice City, and emulation that the eCFW simply can't do. Maybe Native Vita could but, I'm not known to be patient before I find another route.

I also love Portal, so that's cool. I can't wait for other Nvidia exclusives.
Does it quit? If not, then it's legit... Too legit.

not so fast friend

http://venturebeat.com/2015/05/27/sony- ... continued/
What Andy mentioned as ‘legacy platform’ was a part of the write-off the PS Vita component for the first generation of PS Vita, which is no longer available in the market,” a Sony spokesperson said in a statement provided to GamesBeat.
Our portable business will be continued, and many users are now enjoying PlayStation 4 remote play features as well as original PS Vita game titles on PS Vita and PS TV.”
seems like this misunderstanding was a combination of bad choices of words and people jumping on this a bit too fast
