Psp 2000 (88-v3) stuck in Initial Configuration

Post by Mewster » Sun Jul 05, 2015 7:08 pm

After some years of inactivity, I decided to boot up once again my old psp... just to find that I couldn't go past the "Initial Configuration" (the one with the date) screen; this means, when I press "X" nothing happens.

Since the d-pad and the system buttons works, i can't tell which could be the problem.

After some research, I found out that someone had a similar problem, but after entering the cfw recovery menu and doing something here and there, he could unlock the buttons.

But I have a 88v3, I don't remember the firmware i'm in (but more probably it's the 5.xx, the one that was used with chick-Hen), with a cfw installed but that needs the loader to get boot up.

I have available also an old phat, on 6.60; is there something I could do (pandora? memory stick? dunnowhat?) to get the 2000 in a situation where I could confirm that the problem is software and not hardware?

Or someone has suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

If the person that had the similar problem formatted flash1 via recovery to fix it, you can do that with a button combo at startup on OFW. Try holding Square + Triangle + Select + Start while powering on (they must be pressed before flicking the power switch and held until the setup screen shows)

Thanks for the tip;

It seems it does nothing though (the boot time doesn't change), so maybe it's really an hardware problem if it can't read the buttons combo...
