CFW on PSP. No possible recovery if brick on unhackables. A smartphone can always be recovered using a GoldCard.

i rooted my android but i am confused which rom to install on my android(galaxy ace).

Financially speaking, rooting a smartphone sounds more dangerous to me.
Some carriers use a specially modified firmware in order to recognize if your phone is part of their network, or part of another network (roaming). With a customized firmware, you lose the recognition step, and the phone becomes considered as "outside of the data plan". A friend who rooted his Android phone here in Japan ended up having to pay 300'000 yens(3'000 dollars) to Softbank for his monthly fee. It was his company phone so he didn't care, but just saying...

You just switch carrier to some company that does not use a modified firmware

Flashing a ROM is much safer in my opinion. You should always have a NANDROID backup though. Sometimes, even if you dont, and u brick your phone, there are ways to fix the phone.

Even if you root it, whatever carrier you buy the sim card from will charge you at least twice the regular price if you use the sim in a different phone than the one they sold you (because you run in the problem I mentioned above, which is that the phone is recognized as "not an authorized phone for the data plan").
Edit: I don't think they have nice "anti-trust" laws in JP like we have in Europe. At least, those laws don't seem to apply to massive Carriers like Docomo...
