WTF? Super-router?

Post by Nickolas »

Today I tried to hack a neighbour's router with KisMAC. (I know it's illegal, I didn't want to steal his Wi-Fi, I just wanted to test my abilities). The router had WEP encryption so I started sniffing packets and UIVs. When I was about at 10.000 packets the encryption suddenly changed from WEP to WPA-2 (This could be wrong, I really confuse those names xD ). Then back to WEP and this continued for about 3 minutes and then it changed to WEP and stayed there. Also, KisMAC tried 8.645.000 keys and still wasn't able to crack it. Also, I (think I) saw two devices with the same MAC addresses connected to this router... WTF?

Could be a honeypot. Anyway, sorry, no illegal activities support here (even if it's to test your abilities). Thread locked and user warned.
