Half of the people out there (or more) dont know whats the difference between WEP, WPA/WPA2.
The same reason some people say its better to not put anything because that way they dont have to type it down or rmemeber it when friends come over.....


Still MANY ISP provided modem/routers (all in one) have WEP and theres no way to fix that sadly, unless you buy your own modem and router instead of using the companies one, but average joe would rather pay $5 to the ISP than spend $100-$200 in gear they dont even know how to set up.

I used to work securing this WEP networks back in the day (2 years ago) from Airdump attacks while using a bidirectional antena (prolongs range up to 5 miles depending on the antenna).



Also there are some enhancers to your technique as in creating packet traffic yourself against the "victim router" tehrefore instead of minutes it will take seconds
