well not "brick" but it did destroy my version of linux and just refused to work anymore even destroyed my grub menu got grub to work again then dual booting windows would not work after all that my last resort was punching my laptop but for some reason that didnt fix it either =) so had to use my HP recovery disks

You do realize that you could fix everything just by...booting into a live version of a Linux Distro, right?

i think he reinstalled grub that way but it didnt find his windows
probably cuz he had it mounted and grub couldnt access it

You can just edit GRUB config to point it to where your Windows is.

just unmount it and run grub-update :P
no need to reinstall or anything
