which type of linux is the best opperating for a laptop thats slow becuase my other laptop has stopped working and i can run a live cd but its not useful

It would be better if you gave us the details on the laptop specifications (processor, memory, hard disk space, and so on).

You could try Xubuntu (because is from the *BUNTU family). If you need a fast linux for a very-low-end computer, then I suggest you DSL (dang Small Linux)

i have dsl (dang small linux) on my laptop but i can access no flash drive so im saying is there anyother type of live linux that i can use

Thenyou could try another small distro, called Puppy Linux (is a disttro that I have used, is made to be used as a live distro, but you can install it.) The only problem that I know on Puppy is that you must configure the internet (it is not automatically detected, you must run the configurator, then it will detect the network.)

SuseStudio is the EASY way,I tried it a while ago,when I just started using Linux;if you want to make your own distro,for real,check this http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/
