Battery issue on notebooks...

Post by Askarik » Sat Jan 08, 2011 4:12 pm

I heard that if you charge your battery (I mean if it's plugged in) even if your battery is %100 it will damage your battery (Li-On)
So, is there any way to avoid that without plugging out and without removing my battery? need help :( Also, is there any software to do that?
Thanks for your answers,
Askarik

Don't expect an answer so quickly. AFAIK batteries can go bad after a while but there is a small trick you can do to keep them healthy. Basically you need to charge your stuff ONLY when it completely dies (or just gets near completely dead). When you repeatedly recharge your battery at high percentage levels it slowly loses its max charge over time. It has something to do with parts of the battery not getting used. I don't remember where I got this information from as I've been using the technique for years but you could probably google it or maybe someone else here knows more about it than me.
