Without any context I would say it's a pretty nice logo . . .

but it reminds me of Windows 8, which makes me ill.

I think this is the problem with the logo. Microsoft != Windows. They make a game console, games, phones, office applications, development tools etc. This variety is not reflected in the logo which displays the Windows flag. Bad logo imho.

Agreed with JJS, although I too really don't mind since I don't use Microsoft products except Windows XP for playing games.

Could be worse.
But honestly who gives a ***. Its the software thats important and not the logo... but oh well Microsoft loves to forget that, just compare their R&D budget to their Marketing Budget...
